Which Fantasy Player(s) Have Carried You This Season?

As the follow up to last night's piece about which fantasy players ruined your 2012 season, today we talk about which players carried our fantasy teams this season.

A couple guys I drafted/own in a few leagues are Matt Kemp, Ryan Zimmerman, A.J. Burnett, Chris Capuano, and Buster Posey. In one of my leagues, the biggest money league which I participate in, I drafted Buster Posey in the 8th round, Chris Capuano in the 17th round, Aroldis Chapman in the 19th round and A.J. Burnett in the 22nd round, so you can tell I have fared pretty well in this league this season.

So, how about you? Who is carrying your team to a fantasy championship this season? Did you have any waiver wire pickups who have performed better than expected?

Let us know in the comments section.

Keeper league team

My studs have been Posey, McCutchen, Votto, and Willingham.

But the biggest surprises on my team have definitely been Craig, A-Jax, and Zimmermann. Pitching is pretty poor but hitting my way to top of league.

Sale and M. Cain have been my only real bright spots. De Aza was really good for a while and kinda carried my OF when Bautista and J. Upton were struggling.

FA pickups/ late round unprotected draft picks:

Lynn, E5, Aaron Hill, Cespedes, Craig, Wilhelmsen

Mike Trout

and all his troutness. Picked him in the 23 round. have control for next 2 years. They should rename the MVP award the Trout Award

But James McDonald before he imploded, allen craig,, madison bumgarner and chris sale have anchored my staff, also getting ortiz and dunn late in my draft helped a ton.

This was the year of the closer for me. Wilhelmsen, Janssen, Perkins. Also Ben Revere has been fantastic. Carried him over from last year, but dropped him when he went to the minors. Picked him back up, and now can keep him for next year :-)

On offense...

Kipnis, Craig, and Beltran have all been huge for me this season. Jay and Dirks have also performed reasonably well when not injured. LaHair also helped immensely early but eventually had to go.

I grabbed Burnett and Jarrod Parker off the wire early and just cut bait with Parker a few weeks ago but he gave me a huge boost up until the All-Star break.

I’m in a holds league and Vinnie Pestano has been the 11th overall RP ahead of guys like Papelbon and Nathan. Clippard taking over the closer’s role also helped and made up for swings and misses on Santos and League.

Posey, Zimmerman, CarGo, McDonald (while he was good).

Glad I picked up Jarrod Parker and Lohse off waivers.

can’t say i’m all that shocked. the guy came out of nowhere last season and has done even better this season after basically playing and eating himself out of the league. i’m just glad this happened now before the giants offered him a 6/75 million dollar deal.

Franchised Kemp. Drafted King Felix and Bautista.

Right around the time Kemp got hurt I had Trout. Yay! Also picked up Jordan Zimmerman and Willingham off waivers early. Cespedes right before All Star break. Got Rodney off waivers too.

Yes. I’m in first place.

Dick.

Sale and Cano have been good, with Sale coming cheap. Cueto, as well.

Jake peavy

Has done well for a waiver pickup

Josh Willingham and R.A. Dickey

Have been two guys who have been non-stop producers, far exceeding my expectations. My best player is Posey, but I kind of expected this level of production from him.

I also got McCutchen for only $36 in an auction draft and he’s been one of the best players in fantasy, if not the best.

16-team 22 active scoring slots league.

Having a league average bat and arm in every slot gets you into the playoffs basically. The guys carrying me were definitely chooch while he was healthy, have salvador perez in there now and hes been all right. Outtfield (start 3 + 1 CF) has been my biggest strength. Stanton, Braun, and Willingham, with Werth in center and Morse in my UTIL slot. Ian desmond was a huge plus iin the MI slot while he was kicking around and now I feel lucky to have mark ellis there. Asdrubal the SS, Uggla at second, Laroche at 1b I have been happy with. My pitching is Cueto, Rodney, Zimmerman, Wilhelmsen, and a steady stream of pick em up drop em pitchers.

1st overall by 2 games in a head to head league.
