Cahill or Romero?

who would you rather have in a standard dynasty league w/o salaries?  (I'm trading from position player depth to acquire one of these guys, but I'm having a tough time deciding which one I prefer.)  They have similar sample sizes over the last three years.  Romero definitely has a better K rate, but Cahill has an advantage in age and the division in which he pitches, and has the potential to increase his Ks.  Not sure about injury risk on both, but I know Romero had elbow and shoulder issues in the minors.  Any thoughts?

Cahill

Getting Cahill in a dynasty would be huge, and now would be a good time to do it, too. With everyone predicting an ERA regression (and he probably won’t post a sub 3 ERA this year, but it will still be good), people are forgetting about his minor league strikeout rates. Cahill already has superhuman GB rates, and he’s young enough that he can flat-out get better, which we’re already seeing this year in terms of his strikeout rate. When you combine his elite GB rate with a K/9 hovering around 9, with his age, in that division, you get an elite fantasy pitcher. The A’s just locked him up to an extension - they’re obviously expecting big things, and if it’s one thing I trust the A’s to do, it’s evaluate young pitchers.

With Romero, you know what you’re getting, and while he’s a good pitcher in his own right, he’s in the AL East, and he’s a fair bit older, too. If you can get Cahill valued like a “mid-rotation workhorse” type starter, in a dynasty, jump all over it.

I’m not as high on him as KanyeBest as I don’t think he will be elite but he should be very good. He is in a better division and ballpark than Romero. I think they will have similar K/9 rates when all is said and done so the GB% gives Cahill the edge. You can’t really go wrong with either.

Cahill

I’d go Cahill based on park he pitches in, GB rate and the fact that he has increased his K rate this year.
