Possible Trade in a Keeper League

Hello all. Hope you guys are well. I am in a 10 team 5x5 keeper league that has contracts. My team is pretty stagnant and I have WAYYYY too many OF (Cargo, Heyward, JUpton, Stubbs, Choo plus C. Lee) and not enough Pop in my Infield. I have Castro and Rollins and Hill, but nothing much at 3B or 1B. I am pretty strong at Catcher as well (McCann and Wieters).

The second place guy has Fielder and Dunn and Morales and a fair amount of pitching (let's not get into that on my team) but not a lot of MI help and is desperate for OF help, too. I offered him:

McCann + JUpton + S. Castro (keeper)

for

Dunn (possible keeper salary) + F. Liriano (keeper salary) + M. Montero

am I an idiot?

I wouldn't do that

Castro will be a star in a few years and Upton has the potential to be one of the best players in fantasy.

Dunn could collapse at any moment with his age so he’s not an ideal keeper candidate. Montero is a big step back from McCann.

I would see if I could get Morales for C. Lee.

I don’t think Dunn is in any danger whatsoever of collapse, but just the same I wouldn’t be giving up Castro and Upton.

I don’t think Dunn is a problem. He’s just 31 years old and has actually performed in the past and played complete seasons. I would withdraw McCann from the offer and see if he bites. There a good chance the Justin Upton actually has a good season, as well as Castro. But neither will probably duplicate what Dunn is expected to do over the next 3-4 years, even if they do well. Actually I would probably up the ante and check on some different pitchers besides Liriano.

He has

Gallardo and Ubaldo but he’s not giving up either of them (keeper prices).

Recent permutation to seem to work is

Choo (a bit expensive in the league ) + Castro (keeper)

for

Morales and Liriano (both keeper prices)

this is better than the original deal

the original was big overpay, IMO…Upton at a keeper salary is pretty valuable compared to what you were receiving

Morales is a month away at a minimum and a questionable return. He’s been out an exceptionally long time for a broken ankle. So there’s a decent chance that he could end up as DH the rest of the year upon his return which could effect his 1b eligibility in 2012. I guess the same may hold true for Dunn. But anyway, I think Choo + Castro is too expensive for Liriano and Morales.
