Race: Auto Club 400

2019 Winner: Kyle Busch (2:47:42)
Auto Club Speedway. This low banked two mile “D-Shaped” asphalt oval was built in 1996 with the light fixtures added in 2004. Control serves better than speed on this track given the embankments, environment and layout. It holds 68,000 seats and a total Capacity of 122,000. It features 14 degree turns, an 11 degree front stretch and a 3 degree backstretch. This is the only MENCS race featured here.
Joey Logano (second selection this year) — Doubling down on Joey after a successful selection last week yielded in a win. Joey has the best track record here with top five finishes each of the last four years.
Ryan Blaney (first selection this year) — The only reason I did not pick him last week is that I thought he would be sitting out a few races. With him in, a top 10 finish at California each of the last three seasons and a number 1 spot in the Monster Energy Cup Series behind him, Blaney is the top racer in 2020 thus far.
High Risk/High Reward
Brad Keselowski (second selection this year) — Doubling down on Brad as well. Brad had a rough wreck at Daytona but rebounded to what we would expect with a seventh place finish last week at Las Vegas. At California he has been in the top four each of the last three years. Additionally, he won here in 2015.
Austin Dillon (second selection this year) — After finishing 4th last week, Austin comes to California where he has finished in the top 12 each of the last three years.
The Dark Horse
Cole Custer (first selection this year) — Cole finished 19th last week at Las Vegas after finishing 37th at Daytona. Cole comes from Ladera Ranch California and this is as close to a home track as it gets for him.
Fun Fact: Last year, Kyle Busch tied Richard Petty for most NASCAR National Series wins taking all three stages here.
