I think there a consensus this week that we expect the Rams to really beat up on Detroit this week, whether that’s Stafford as my overall QB4 or Cooper Kupp and other Rams getting love in our daily fantasy content this week.
We’re also light on some prominent QB1s due to bye weeks, so you’ll see names inside the top 12 that you wouldn’t normally. Odds are your superflex spot is either a skill player or a much weaker gunslinger than normal this week...and that’s okay, as it probably applies to most of your league, too.
For my part, I’m really rooting for Tua after all this Deshaun Watson chatter, and he has the matchup this week to make some noise. What about you, gamers? Who are you counting on this week?
QB Rankings for Week 7
Rank | Player Name | Team | Opponent | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|
Rank | Player Name | Team | Opponent | Notes |
1 | Patrick Mahomes | KC | @ TEN | An implied total over 31 points and without a run game, and against this defense...yes please |
2 | Kyler Murray | ARI | vs HOU | This matchup is as plush as Mahomes'. |
3 | Lamar Jackson | BAL | vs CIN | He just lost LT Ronnie Stanley and this is a good defense, but he can always make hay with his legs. |
4 | Matthew Stafford | LAR | vs DET | Only KC allows more yards per play, and Detroit's 8.5 NY/A is stone worst in the NFL (tied with JAC). |
5 | Tom Brady | TB | vs CHI | He leads the NFL in pass attempts, passes completed, and passing yardage--and his 17 TDs rank second to only Mahomes (18). |
6 | Jalen Hurts | PHI | @ LV | He's averaging 50 yards rushing per game. He has amassed 300 yards on the ground, something only he and Lamar Jackson can claim. His five rushing scores trail only Derrick Henry (10). |
7 | Aaron Rodgers | GB | vs WAS | The WFT have allowed the most passing scores in the league (16), as well as the most passing yardage (1,857), while being a bit of a funnel with a top 7 mark in Y/A allowed on the ground (4.0). |
8 | Ryan Tannehill | TEN | vs KC | Tannehill would be a low-end QB1 option in a typical week, but we are missing a few bonafide QB1s due to bye weeks. |
9 | Derek Carr | LV | vs PHI | Philly's a decent defense, actually--but the 12 passing scores allowed are what we can hang our proverbial hat on. |
10 | Matt Ryan | ATL | @ MIA | Xavien Howard and Byron Jones are dealing with groin issues...if one or both are out, Ryan's low-end QB1 outlook could morph into mid-range QB1. Calvin Ridley also returns. |
11 | Sam Darnold | CAR | @ NYG | He's always a threat for a rushing score with CMC still out, and the GMen have allowed 14 passing scores (4th most). |
12 | Tua Tagovailoa | MIA | vs ATL | There are still talks about Deshaun Watson to MIA...but take advantage of this spot as a home 'dog against a middling defense. |
13 | Jameis Winston | NO | @ SEA | Taysom Hill is out, so his outlook is improved. SEA are bottom third in NY/A (7.2) and have allowed hte fifth-most yardage to enemy QBs. |
14 | Joe Burrow | CIN | @ BAL | He's had a great floor (at least 2 TDs in every game) but you can't love this matchup on the road. |
15 | Justin Fields | CHI | @ TB | You can't run on TB (3.4 Y/A) so get ready for some volume and maybe some magic with Fields' legs. |
16 | Daniel Jones | NYG | vs CAR | Not a good matchup, and his skill players are banged to hell. |
17 | Jimmy Garoppolo | SF | vs IND | Trey Lance is out and these Colts are swiss cheese on pass D so far--15 pass TDs allowed and bottom 5 with a 7.4 NY/A. |
18 | Carson Wentz | IND | @ SF | Historically a poor venue to play, but SF has been middling on defense so far. Wentz has played well (9:1) |
19 | Mac Jones | NE | vs NYJ | The Jets pass D has been stingy (4 scores allowed) and NE should continue to lean into their run game and defense. |
20 | Taylor Heinicke | WAS | @ GB | Heinicke is struggling, and Green Bay is allowing just 5.7 NY/A, tied for fourth-best in the NFL. |
21 | Geno Smith | SEA | vs NO | Another pass funnel, as NO allows 3.3 Y/A on the ground, best mark in the NFL. But only 5 pass TDs allowed so far. |
22 | Jared Goff | DET | @ LAR | Goff in a rough matchup against his former HC who surely knows how to limit him--yikes. |
23 | Zach Wilson | NYJ | @ NE | He's failed to account for a touchdown of any type in 3 of 5 games so far. |
24 | Davis Mills | HOU | @ ARI | If you're considering anyone outside the top 20, your situation is dire. |
