Earlier today, we got some good news on Didi Gregorius. And now, the biggest prize of the offseason has signed:
Breaking: Gerrit Cole to Yankees. 9 years. 36M per. 324M total.— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) December 11, 2019
And if you care about the dollars slant, here you go:
Cole got it all: Pitching record. First pitcher over $300M. And now the all-time average value record at $36M a year. #yankees— Joel Sherman (@Joelsherman1) December 11, 2019
Cole is the one of the top pitchers in the fake game, and no matter what your league format is, this signing won’t change that outlook. You’ll have to pay up to snag him in your fake league, and you’ll do so in Round 1. And you’ll like it. And it will be worth it. For what it’s worth, Cole went 7th overall in my Pitcher List Mock, ahead of Jacob deGrom (10th) and Walker Buehler (12th). Get ready to open up your wallet...maybe just not quite as much as the Yankees did!
