Onto the mailbag:
Q: Who will end up with the number one pick?
— Dan. T
Likely candidates: Bengals, Dolphins, Washington, Jets and Falcons. Do the Browns just shut Baker Mayfield down and try to tank for Tua? DRAMA!!!!!! (No they don’t, they just need a head coach who knows what he’s doing.)
Anyways, my money is on the Bengals to wind up with the number one pick, decide that Andy Dalton needs one more chance to see if he can be the starting QB of the future and draft an offensive lineman first overall, aka Andrew Thomas. Then, with the number two pick in the draft, the Jets draft Tua Tagovailoa and hold him for ransom for the Dolphins, asking for every draft pick they got, which of course they give up because they’ve been telegraphing the fact that they’re tanking for Tua all freaking season. Then the Falcons snag Chase Young and give each other firm pats on the back. The Jets then go on to draft the best player at each position which ultimately doesn’t help them because Adam Gase is still their head coach and enjoys destroying teams from the inside out.
Did I just 100% correctly predict the start of the 2020 NFL draft? I think so.
Q: Full point PPR. DJ Moore, DeVante Parker and Aaron Jones. Need 2.
— @dfav71
DeVante Parker is a lock given that Ryan Fitzpatrick loves him and now has no one else to throw to. I think he’s easily going to see 10-12 targets against the Colts this weekend and he’s good enough to be able to do something with them.
Jones is risky but I have a hard time not starting him against a Panthers defense that’s giving up the most points to running backs the last four weeks. The return of Davante Adams seemingly has cut into Jones’ work in the passing game, there should still be plenty of work for him on the ground. I actually expect both him and Jamaal Williams to produce this week. D.J. Moore is far from a bad play, but while the Packers secondary as been picked on recently, they still are really good at keeping receivers out of the end zone, allowing the fifth fewest touchdowns to receivers this year.
