Please Evaluate My Lineup - Roster Due This Week!

Alright folks, with my keeper roster being due this week, I could use some feedback before I finalize things.

League Info: 12 Teams, Standard 5x5 Roto on Yahoo

Here is my roster at the moment (we protect 20 - starting roster)...

C-Brian McCann

1B-Ryan Howard

2B-Robinson Cano

SS-Alexei Ramirez

3B-Pedro Alvarez

CI-Mark Teixeira

MI-Kelly Johnson

OF-Andrew McCutchen

OF-Andre Either

OF-Shane Victorino

OF-Carlos Quentin

UT-Travis Snider

SP-Josh Johnson

SP-Max Scherzer

SP-Chad Billingsley

SP-Daniel Hudson

SP-Josh Beckett

SP-Ian Kennedy

RP-Brian Wilson

RP-Brad Lidge

Notable guys I'm cutting: Logan Morrison, James Shields, AJ Burnett, Jorge De La Rosa

Should I submit my starting roster as listed above or make a change based on my cut guys?

Furthermore, do you believe this is a competitive team?  If not, where should I improve?

My self-assessment is that I could use help in speed and avg.  Strength is HR and Ks.

Your help is greatly appreciated because you guys are a knowledgeable group.

Hmmm on Beckett

I am still not sold on Beckett. His 2010 numbers make me extremely leery of protecting him, and I am kind of in the camp that the more injuries a player has over time, the lower his ceiling becomes going forward. That would be the only one that kind of jumps out at me, but I would definitely agree with you that speed is your biggest need. Average could be a bit of a wild card, as I think Teix hits a lot better than he showed last year, and the 30-40 pt. jump I see in ’11 for him, along with Cano can be something that would park you in the middle of the pack. Hope this helps.

Burnett

i like Burnett. He has a weird every other year thing which makes me hope this is the good year. Yankee lineup should allow him to have 4+ ERA and 1.4+ Whip and still get Ws. I am confident Ks will be fine. Can’t have too much SPs. Quentin is who I would drop. Yes, you need speed. As Ray has said, Venable is a good late round choice. Rajai Davis usually lasts to rd 10 or so. gl
