LeMahieu’s return to New York always felt inevitable. It took a while. But he wanted to be there and Yankees get top free agent target.
Fantasy Impact
The Yankees were always the best landing spot for LeMahieu, and the spot that was mostly expected all offseason. Therefore, this won’t do much to tweak his value. He was already being drafted among the position’s elite, and will likely be the first or second baseman drafted in your fantasy baseball league this year.
He remains an elite contributor in batting average due to his skill set, but the context of New York means we expect his power to remain and his counting stats to be plentiful. You’ll sacrifice a little speed, but everything else is top-notch and he’s got 1B/2B/3B eligibility to boot. With an NFBC Draft Champions ADP of 31.53 on average, he’s a sturdy Round 3 pick in 15-team leagues.
