The all-important NBA HORSE fantasy game

Sports are kinda back and so is fantasy sports!

Sports are back everyone! Jump up and down by yourself! Air hug the closest person to you! Pump your recently washed fists!

The NBA announced that it will be hosting a HORSE competition starting Sunday, April 12 and running through Thursday, April 16. The rules are obviously what you’d expect from a HORSE tournament: players take turns taking shots and if you miss, you get a letter. First person to HORSE loses. We’ve all played. (There is a no dunking rule so that Zach LaVine can’t just do a 360 dunk and win the whole dang thing.)

Who’s partaking in this tournament you ask?

  • Chris Paul
  • Trae Young
  • retired WNBA star Tamika Catchings
  • Zach LaVine
  • three-time WNBA All-Star Allie Quigley
  • Mike Conley Jr.
  • Chauncey Billups
  • Paul Pierce

And since we now have a sporting event, it only makes sense that we have a fantasy game associated with it. What else are we going to do in quarantine?

The rules

Build a team of four players. This will be your team throughout the entire tournament, so be smart about your team construction. You don’t want to lose your entire team in the first round. That would certainly put a cap to your point scoring. Drop your team in the comments.

2 points will be given anytime a player gives their opponent a letter. A player gets -1 point when they get a letter. So for example, Trae Young faces off against Chauncey Billups in Round 1 Sunday. If Young beats Billups, but finishes with HOR, then he’d get 7 points (10 points for giving Billups HORSE, minus 3 for HOR). Billups would get 1 point (-5 for HORSE, +6 for HOR).

I’ll tally each team’s score for each round and hopefully we get enough of a following to move into the semis and final finals. If not, hey this will be fun just for Round 1. I’m ready for any kind of fantasy sports action right about now.

So, build your team, drop it in the comments or tweet it at us @Faketeams, and may the best squad win! FANTASY SPORTS IS BACK BABY!
