Welcome to the Ding Dong Challenge, a game were we try and correctly predict who will hit the most home runs in a given week, keep score throughout the entire season and win a free, awesome t-shirt. Here’s last week’s report card and this week’s list of “elites”. If you want to play, just pick one player from the “elites” and two players from the “everyone else” category (which is just everyone who’s not elite), then list your team in the comments. The sooner you create your team, the better as you only get the homers from when your team is posted till the end of the week.

Week 5 report card

Name Week 5 Total Elite Everyone Else 1 Everyone Else 2 Total Ding Dongs
Name Week 5 Total Elite Everyone Else 1 Everyone Else 2 Total Ding Dongs
The Real Slim Shaney 7 J.D. Martinez (5) Kyle Schwarber (1) Ryon Healy (1) 23
Pete Rogers 3 Kris Bryant (1) Khris Davis (2) Hanley Ramirez (0) 20
Salti Cracker 3 Mike Trout (2) Freddie Freeman (1) Joey Votto (0) 17
Mark Abell 3 Joey Gallo (1) Matt Davidson (0) Khris Davis (2) 14
Sixtus74 2 Aaron Judge (0) Freddie Freeman (1) Scott Schebler (1) 14
Heath Capps 2 Manny Machado (1) Anthony Rizzo (0) Freddie Freeman (1) 8
Feslenraster 2 Ozzie Albies (1) Eddie Rosario (0) Khris Davis (1) 3

After absolutely killing it last week, The Real Slim Shaney is right back at it picking by far the most productive player this week in J.D. Martinez. What kills me is that when I was making my picks, I seriously thought about Martinez but I’d picked him in the first two weeks of the game and it yielded my very few points so I passed. Stupid Pete.

Khris Davis wins this this week’s coveted/just created award of MVEE (Most Valuable Everyone Else). He helped both Mark and myself and even Feslenraster managed to sneak him in on time to get at least one of his homers this week.

All and all, not a great week for homers and the Ding Dong Challenge in general.

Instead of listing this week’s perfect lineup, I thought it would be much more fun to score Mark’s secondary team that he created that the talked himself out of:

How did Mark’s second team do?

Elite: Nolan Arenado (0)
Everyone Else 1: Justin Bour (1)
Everyone Else 2: Mark Reynolds (0)

You did a good job talking yourself out of this one Mark.
