FanDuel Golf. I will keep the format the same but try to improve upon my selections from last week which featured some solid pieces (Matt Kuchar, Patrick Cantlay and Jamie Lovemark were all top 30 finishes) but also featured 3 of my picks not making the cut.
The format:
Two Premium Priced picks
Two Mid-tier Priced picks
Two Bargain Basement picks.
This will leave two picks remaining to do as you see fit. This week I used DA points who was 18th here last year to pair with Rickie Fowler who is having a career year.
Pricey Picks ($8,000+):
Phil Mickelson ($9,700)
Brooks Koepka ($10,100)
These two have been nothing short of amazing at TPC Southwind with multiple years of top ten finishes. Winning this tournament will revolve around acknowledging that a lot of people will select these two but outwitting them elsewhere.
Mid-Tier Picks ($6,000-$8,000):
Kyle Stanley ($6,800)
Peter Uihlein ($7,000)
Kyle is 7th on the tour in strokes gained approaching the green, 5th in strokes gained tee to green, accuracy is key at TPC Southwind. He has a poor track record here with 2 missed cuts and a 62nd place in the previous three visits at TPC Southwind but he's also missed about 4 fewer cuts in 2017 than previous years going into this tournament. Kyle really is the best ball striker on tour right now. Peter is a perfect 3 for 3 on PGA tour events this year in making the cut in each one AND finishing in the top 25.
Bargain Picks ($6,000-):
Brian Gay ($5,700)
Tim Wilkinson ($4,700)
Brian Gay is 41st on the tour in driving accuracy right now. He's also 13th on the tour in strokes gained putting, with those two together, he can have a strong push at TPC Southwind. He finished 6th here last year. Tim has a great track around the greens and driving accurately which he can tap into for some success here. It's a bit of feast or famine for him with a mixture of missed cuts and top 20 finishes over his last month and a half. At $4,700 it's worth the investment for a potential top 25 finish.
