Neftali Feliz Injured, Darren Oliver a Must Add in Fantasy Leagues

New, 9 comments

Rangers closer Neftali Feliz was placed on the 15-day DL today with inflammation in his shoulder, and according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, Darren Oliver will be the Rangers closer. Here is his tweet today:

I expect Darren Oliver to be the Chairman of the Rangers' Closer Committee.

Oliver should be picked up in all mixed and AL-only leagues now. Oliver currently has 2.16 ERA and 3.59 xFIP, with a very low K rate of 4.32 in 8 1/3rd innings this year. Last year, he had a solid 9.49 K rate, so one has to wonder if his low K rate is just a small sample size or not.

Feliz was 5 for 5 in save opportunities this season with a 1.08 ERA, but an xFIP of 5.05. Of concern to the Ranfers and fantasy owners was his drop in K rate from 9.22 last year to just 6.48 this year. His walk rate also increased from 2.34 to 5.40.
