Tournament Information:

Wyndham Championship
Date: August 12th – 15th
Course: Sedgefield Country Club
Purse: $6.4MM ($1.2MM to winner)
2020 Winner: Jim Herman (-21)

Course

Sedgefield Country Club (Ross Course). Established in 1926, this 7,120 yard par 70 course was designed by Donald Ross. It holds a course rating of 75.3 and a slope rating of 143. It is fairly open featuring some thicker roughs and rolling hills. The generous space must be used, if players wander off too much, they will need a weedwhacker to get their ball out. Quality putting is usually at a premium here and should be prioritized. Brandt Snedeker had a notorious round score of 59 here in 2018.

My Starting 4

Webb Simpson (fifth selection this year) – No one has been anywhere near as dominant as he has been here over the last few years. Top 3 finishes here each of the last four years!

Denny McCarthy (first selection this year) Denny has been getting better each year here. He was 36th here three years ago, he improved to 22nd in 2019 and then 9th last year. He’s 28th in strokes gained putting.

Sunjae Im (first selection this year) – Top 10 finishes from him each of the last two years. Top 30 in both FedEx points and OWGR, Sungjae is 16th in strokes gained off the tee and 35th in total strokes gained.

Ryan Armour (second selection this year) Ryan has been among the top 15 here each of the last four years. He enters Wyndham with top seven finishes at his last two tournaments (Barbasol Championship and 3M Open). Armour has a good touch, currently sitting 3rd in driving accuracy and 36th in strokes gained putting.

My Bench 2

Mark Hubbard (first selection this year) Mark Hubbard played Sedgefield twice in the last four years, both were top 25 finishes. He comes into this weekend with four consecutive made cuts, two of those starts being top 20 finishes. Hubbard has a good short game (62nd in strokes gained around the green) with a solid putter (58th in strokes gained).

Jason Kokrak (second selection this year) — Jason was among the top 20 here in three of his last four years participating in the Wyndham Championship. Kokrak currently holds an 11th place ranking in the FedEx points with a 24th overall OWGR.

Fun Fact: This tournament has been played in the Greensboro NC area for 83 years
