The Atlanta Braves are World Series CHAMPIONS after defeating the Houston Astros by a score of 7-0 on Tuesday night. Max Fried pitched a gem (1 W, 6 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 6 SO) and Jorge Soler got the scoring started with this mammoth blast:
Jorge Soler is the 4th player in @Braves history to hit 3 HR in a single #WorldSeries.

Look up the definition of “moonshot,” and it should be a GIF of #SolerPower on repeat.
Free agent to be Freddie Freeman made his mark on this one late, but Dansby Swanson gave Atlanta some breathing room with a two-run homer to put the score up to 5-0:

And the aforementioned Freddie Freeman, he doubled home Jorge Soler (who else?!) and then contributed the final act of run insurance with this solo shot, his fifth homer of the postseason:

Tyler Matzek spun a pair of scoreless innings after Fried’s exit, and Will Smith closed things out in the ninth inning—a fitting way for Atlanta to end things given the strength that the bullpen has become. Questions will emerge for both teams—i.e., where will prominent free agents Freddie Freeman and Carlos Correa ultimately land for next season?
But for now, let’s just enjoy this win, baseball family. That was a heck of a trade deadline for Atlanta, rebuilding their outfield and going for it in an embattled NL East. Eddie Rosario, Jorge Soler, Joc Pederson, Adam Duvall...all were key guys for the Braves at one time or another. The arrow has to be pointed firmly upward in the A.T.L.
And hey, at least we didn’t have to endure the Astros as World Series champs, right?
