ICYMI – WNBA Playoffs have begun!

Can anyone surpass the Seattle Storm and Atlanta Dream?

Fall sports are picking up and we have a hand full of sports about to enter their playoffs. The WNBA, despite having 8 teams make it, does a fun atypical format where the top four seeds get byes 1-2 rounds in.

NFL (Preseason)

· NHB has some excellent Fantasy preseason reports on each team

· What Pete was looking for in Week 2

· RB week has passed, check out a number of pieces on it below, now it’s Wide Receiver Week!

MLB (77% of the way into the season)

· Colorado Rockies have 4 straight wins while Atlanta, Toronto & San Francisco have lost at least 4 straight.

· Oakland Athletics fought from 15 games back to take the first overall spot in the American League West for a few days before Houston retained the title.

· Ronald Acuna living up to the hype with 17 runs, 15 RBIs, 4 stolen bases batting .382 over the last 2 weeks, Justin Turner is right behind him with 12 runs, 8 RBIs one stolen base and a .469 avg.

· Jacob DeGrom got 3 wins over the last 2 weeks! This goes along with his 0.83 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 10.33 K/BB.

WNBA (Playoffs!)

· Regular season is over, first round of the playoffs: Dallas Wings vs. Phoenix Mercury; Minnesota Lynx vs. LA Sparks;

o Single Elimination games will be on Tuesday.

· Second round winners will end up like this: TBD vs. Washington Mystics; TBD vs. Connecticut Sun (both got first round byes as the 3rd and 4th seeds

Winners from Second Round will face Seattle Storm and Atlanta Dream (both got first two round byes as 1st and 2nd seeds)

Soccer

· EPL Week 2

o Chelsea beat Arsenal 3-2, Manchester City scored 6 on Huddersfield Town and Manchester United lost to Brighton and Hove Albion. Sergio Aguero (Man City) and Richarlison (Everton) lead the league with 3 goals apiece.

o Clean sheets from Cardiff City, Newcastle United and Leicester City

· NWSL – the season is about 95% done.

o North Carolina Courage win yet again with a 3-0 win over the Orlando Pride. 3 spots open in the Playoff battles still occuring for Seattle Reign, Portland Thorns FC, Chicago Red Stars, Orlando Pride and Utah Royals FC

· MLS – the season is about 74% done.

o Atlanta United beat the Columbus Crew 3-1, Jose Martinez scores yet again. DC United beat New England Revoluion 2-0 and Philadelphia Union beat New York FC 2-0. Atlanta now holds a 3 points lead.

o FC Dallas holds a 3 points lead in the west over Sporting Kansas City and LAFC.

PGA – (Brendt Snedeker gets his first PGA win of the year)

· Brendt joins the sub 60 club which includes: Al Geiberger, Chip Beck, David Duval, Paul Goydos, Stuart Appleby, Jim Furyk (x2), Justin Thomas and Adam Hadwin

· He hit a 59 on Friday to jump out to an immediate lead and then had to fight hard down the final 9 holes to pass CT Pan and hold on to the win over Webb Simpson

· Sergio Garcia just misses the playoff cut at 128th. Harris English slippe din at 124 and Seamus Power at 125.

NASCAR – (Kurt Busch)

· He led the final 24 laps to earn his first win in 58 races. Rumors are Kurt has been shopping a new team at the end of this season.

MMA – (MMA 204: Caldwell vs. Lahat)

· Darrion Caldwell won by TKO over Noad Lahat in the 2nd round.

Boxing

· Tyson Fury beat Francesco Pianeta by unanimous decision.

· Bryant Jennings holds the heavyweight title after a night round win over Alexander Dimitrenko.

College

· I joked last week that I should just highlight a college football legal issue each week so…LSU receiver Drake Davis had his allegation retracteD

Little League World Series
