Is Chone Figgins a Round 1 pick?
Definetly a little early to start draft prep, but last season I drafted Figgins in the middle rounds (I guess you'd call the 5th/6th middle rounds) and I doubt he'd last that long in 2006. Is he worth a 1st round pick? Lots of steals, good average, decent OBP, not much power but gobs of versatility. Last year he and Pujols were my two constants and I finished quite well in every league I played in.
I wouldn't take him 1st overall, but I'm thinking end of Rd 1 might not too early. Any thoughts?

No way
There are ALWAYS productive FA's to pickup in your league. First round is way too valuable to be dicking around with figgins.
BTW: This is all in my humble -3 consecutive league titles- opinion

Depends on league
In a league with a lot of keepers, sure.
But in most leagues, I don't think so. Probably a mid-second to early-third pick.

I agree there are better players
Like I said, if I'm picking in the Top-5 I don't draft Figgins. But if I'm picking 10th overall (15th in the 2nd round) than I might have to jump by 15.

On first blush, no...
But there's an argument to be made for him, for two reasons:
1) He actually picks it up in the second half. That's rare for a speed guy. Most lose it when the season gets long.
Figgins SBs for career:
Pre All Star Break: 60 for 82 (73%)
- He's 28. Peak time.
- It's hard to argue with 62 (!) bags stolen, when only 4 guys in MLB broke 50 in 2005.

P.S. If you play in a league that counts triples as a category, he's a lock for the top 10.
