Race: Alsco Uniform 500
Date: May 27th @ 8:00pm EST
Venue: Charlotte Motor Speedway
2019 Winner: N/A
Charlotte Motor Speedway. Opened in 1960 by Bruton Smith and Curtis Turner, this 1.5 mile quad oval asphalt track is home to two races each year. The turns are at 24 degrees and the straights bank at 5 degrees. This track was the first modern superspeedway to host night racing.
Chase Elliott (first selection this year) — Take out the forced crash that he had from Kyle Busch and he’s been in the top seven in each of the other four races previously. He finished 2nd a few days ago at Charlotte.
Kevin Harvick (second selection this year) — Kevin is the only racer who has finished in the top 10 in every race this season. He finished 5th a few days ago at Charlotte.
High Risk/High Reward
Denny Hamlin (first selection this year) — He was dominating but now he has finishes outside the top 20 in two of the last four races. He rebounded from 20th at Phoenix to 5th at Darlington and now, one race removed from his win at Darlington, I think he will rebound from a 29th place finish a few days ago.
Erik Jones (first selection this year) — He started the season with an 18th place, 23rd place, 10th place and 28th place.
The Dark Horse
Matt DiBenedetto (second selection this year) — I am ecstatic to see how well he’s doing this season. He’s been in the top 20 in each race this season and he has two top ten finishes in seven races. After finishing 17th last week, I think he could be a top 15 racer this week.
Fun Fact: This was a race created off Covid-19, the use of the same track for multiple tracks made it easy to hold multiple races in just a few days. Let’s see who wins the inaugural Alsco Uniforms 500.
