The sports world has been turned on its head thanks to Covid-19 and the PGA Championship Tour is no different.
The announcement came over on Wednesday of play that all fans would not be allowed to attend the remaining days of the tournament followed a day later by a postponement of the tournament and then ultimately a cancellation. Since then, we have seen a continuations of cancellations and postponements. Eight events have been cancelled, 10 are on as scheduled and one has been postponed.
I’m sure many are relieved that there is still hope for us to see a Masters tournament in November (occurring outside April for just the third time since its inception). Additionally, the current FedEx points leader is Sungjae Im (1 win, 5 top tens) with 1,458 points, 55 points ahead of Justin Thomas (2 wins, five top 10s) and a full 279 points ahead of Rory McIlroy in third (1 win, six top 10s). I feel confident we will see a few more tournaments postpone or cancel before this is all over, it would currently sit at 39 total events which is how many events the tour typically ran in the early 1960s.
