Onto the mailbag:

Q: Hello Im in a bit of a pickle. First league: For week two would you start Walker over OJ Howard? Also I have James White on my flex, but I have (Aaron Jones, Curtis Samuel, Anthony Miller, Mecole Hardman, and Justin Jackson on my bench) Should I start one of those over White even though he’s playing against an awful Dolphins front 7? I have Carson, M. Mack, JuJu, and John Brown as my starters.

Second League: Would you start TJ Hockenson over OJ Howard? I took OJ in both leagues thinking this offense would be better. My Starting line up is Hopkins, D. Adams, C. Carson, D. Montgomery, Hockenson, and Watkins on my Flex. Montgomery is the one I have a question mark mostly after Davis looked like a better running back in week 1. On my bench I have (Brandon Cook, Duke Johnson, Latavius Murray, Micheal Gallup, and T. McLaurin) Also note that I have Miles Sanders on the Waiver for Duke Johnson. Should I start one of these over David Montgomery?
— Jonathan G.

Gah, the issue with a Friday mailbag is I can’t get to Thursday night questions. I hope you did start Delanie Walker over O.J. Howard because Howard has been a non-factor to start the season. As for your flex conundrum, I would start Mecole Hardman in your flex. If Antonio Brown does suit up and play for the Patriots, I think White is the player who’ll be most negatively affected by his presence. Hardman is stepping into Tyreek Hill’s role as a speed killer who can take a screen to the house with ease. I like him to post solid numbers in an offense that will effortlessly move the ball against an already banged up Raiders secondary.

Hockenson over Howard. Damn man I feel for you. My wife drafted Howard and has been far from pleased with his start to the season. It sucks because he’s so damn talented but for whatever reason it seems Jameis Winston just doesn’t have a connection with him.

Now to your David Montgomery dilemma. I kinda want to give him one more week to show me something, and by “him”, I really mean Matt Nagy and the Bears offense. I loved how Montgomery ran in Week 1 and I’m hoping Nagy realized his immense mistake in not giving Montgomery all the touches and is now about to release a tidal wave of The Mont this weekend against the Broncos. But that being said, he could put up a dud thanks to WTF coaching decisions and leave you high and dry, so if you want to see how he does with him on your bench, that’s fair too. I like either Brandin Cooks in an always-and-forever revenge game against the Saints or if you got Miles Sanders, start him. The Falcons defense gives up a ton of work to running backs in the passing game and Sanders showed himself in Week 1 to be the Eagles led back. This could be his coming out party.

Sorry to be giving you my O.J. Howard thoughts a day late.

Q: 0.5 PPR: Who should I start between TJ Gronkenson and D Waller at TE this week? I got them both off the waiver wire.
— @AndeTheEngineer

Ooof that my friend is an excellent question. Both T.J. Hockenson and Darren Waller the Baller were incredible in Week 1 and you’re a lucky man for successfully adding both. I honestly think you can’t go wrong picking either, but, since that is just about the worst answer I could give you, I’d go with Waller. The Chiefs defense looks to be just as terrible as it was last year and as any game with the Chiefs becomes a shoot out upon opening kick, there will be plenty of opportunity for Waller to get his.

Q: pick two out Edelman, Woods & Fournette PPR I’m strugglin
— @HewletteTanner

Easy, Leonard Fournette and Julian Edelman. Fournette is going to get a big workload with rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew taking over under center this week and Edelman has had a long tradition of feasting on the Dolphins (in his career he’s averaging 5 catches for 63 yards and .5 touchdowns per game vs Miami). Plus, we saw that defense get eviscerated by slot receivers last week which is where Edelman thrives.

Q: Where in the world is Carmen San Diego
— @nikbroduff

Do you mean The World’s Greatest Thief? The Miss of Misdemeanor? The Queen of Crime? Le Femme Rouge? The Crimson Ghost? The Lady in Red? The Scarlet Outlaw? The Red Rogue? Fedora the Explorer? The Crimson Shadow? The Red Snapper? The Scarlet Ski Demon? The Red Sneakeroo? The Crimson Phantom?

She’s probably in San Francisco tending to her possible father millionaire Malcolm Avalon who has selective amnesia after falling from a roof during a battle with ACME agent Lee Jordan.

(All of this is true.)
