Friday Fun: What’s the worst sports movie you’ll always go to bat for?

Don’t you dare try to tell me Blades of Glory is a bad movie.

It’s Friday and while that means the weekend is just around the corner, it also means that most everyone’s afternoon is spent staring at the clock just waiting for work to get out. So, I decided to help distract you from the monotonous tick tick of the clock and from that mound of work on your desk. You’re welcome!

I’m back! Just in time to distract you from the final minutes of your job, just like old times. This week’s fun comes from a tweet the mothership sent out today asking for the worst movie you’d go to bat for.

It would be lame if I just published this, wiped my hands and said good job Pete so I’ll add my own twist onto the original question: What’s the worst SPORTS movie you’ll always go to bat for?

My answer is simple: Blades of Glory.

Yes, that film starring Will Ferrell and Jon Heder about professional men’s figure skating that is exactly as predictable and stupidly hilarious as you’d expect. I love this movie, from Will Ferrell’s skater bod, to the excellent wig usage, to then married couple Will Arnett and Amy Poehler playing the bad guys, all the way to the line that was made famous by Kanye West. Every joke is highly predictable but I still find it hilarious and wildly entertaining. Who doesn’t love seeing figure skaters accidentally decapitating their partners on ice? (This makes a lot more sense if you’ve seen the movie.)

I also love Semi-Pro, but that’s an actually good movie so it doesn’t need to be on this list.

What’s the worst sports movie you go to bat for? Leave your thoughts in the comments or—if you want to tell us more and paint a verbal picture for us—write a FanPost and we’ll make sure to share it!

Hopefully this will be able to distract you for the final moments of the week.

Happy weekends!
