Reminder: Always double check the lineup card before rosters lock to make sure that a player you've chosen to roster is playing that day, and check the weather to make sure your players won't get rained out of their game.
P- Jacob deGrom vs. Philadelphia Phillies, $9,700
In 111 career IP at home, deGrom owns a 1.50 ERA, 2.07 FIP and 26.7% K%, compared to a 4.21 ERA, 3.89 FIP and 23.1% K% on the road. A large part of this is that deGrom's fly balls do not go out of the park at the same rate at the pitcher friendly Citi Field (4% HR/FB% at home vs 11% on road). deGrom's average fastball velocity spiked in his last start up to 95.4 mph, up from 93.9 in his first start, and it helped fuel the most dominant outing of deGrom's career, striking out 11 Cardinals in 8 IP while allowing only 1 baserunner. It resulted in a game score of 91, the second best all season behind Corey Kluber's 98. He faces the Phillies, who have the worst wRC+ in baseball vs RHP at 72 and fourth worst ISO at .118. Jerome Williams pitches for the Phillies, which makes deGrom's chances at getting the win strong.
1B- Lucas Duda vs. Jerome Williams, $3,400
The aforementioned Jerome Williams pitches for the Phillies, which is a good thing for Lucas Duda today. Williams has the 10th worst FIP vs LHB from 2013 present at 4.62 and the 8th worst ERA at 4.82. Duda owns the following ranks vs RHP in 605 PA from the start of last year until now: 150 wRC+ (10th best), .246 ISO (10th best), 30 HR (10th best). Duda is the 13th priced 1B today, so playing him provides strong value.
OF- Marlon Byrd vs. Jorge de La Rosa, $3,000
Byrd is a relatively inexpensive source of power against LHP. His .241 ISO vs LHP since the start of 2014 is 5th best among OF and his 12 HR are 3rd best. The matchup takes place in an excellent park for power in Cincinnati, and de La Rosa has turned in poor results vs RHB in recent years, even away from Coors Field (5.31 FIP vs RHB on the road last year).
OF- Giancarlo Stanton vs. Jeff Locke, $4,200
If you are going to pay for Stanton, the best time to do it is against LHP. In 288 PA vs LHP since the start of 2013, Stanton has an elite 177 wRC+ (8th best), .298 ISO (3rd best) and 17 HR (18th best). He faces Jeff Locke, who has a below average 4.07 FIP in 271 IP vs RHB during that time frame.
Blue Jays RHB vs John Danks
In 275 IP since the start of 2013, Danks owns a brutal 5.03 FIP vs RHB with 1.6 HR/9 allowed. Danks gives up fly balls at about a 40% clip, which is dangerous in Rogers Centre. Josh Donaldson at $3,700 is the best play in the lineup. Donaldson is among the games elite lefty mashers: in 213 PA dating back to the start of 2014, Donaldson has 17 HR (best), a 193 wRC+ (3rd best), and .349 ISO (best).
Punt plays based on lineup slot
A few names are priced at the minimum ($2,200) that all bat in the top 4 slots in their team's lineup: Seth Smith, Michael Cuddyer, Melky Cabrera and Juan Lageras. Seth Smith is my favorite option, as he usually hits 1st or 2nd against RHP and has had very good results vs RHP in recent years (131 wRC+ since the start of '14, 13th best among OF).
