Fantasy Baseball 2012: Need Keeper Help

Im in a 12 team Keeper League, we keep 6 guys, at this point Im keeping Ian Kinsler, Mike Stanton, Jose Bautista, Cole Hamels, Prince Fielder and Buster Posey. I also have Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, Jurickson Profar, Matt Moore and Shelby Miller on my team. This league does not have a prospect keeper rule so If I want to keep any of those guys I would have to get rid of one of my original 6 guys. My question is, is there anyone you would not keep so you can keep one of these guys. The main reason I have so many of these guys is that I don't want others who don't have 6 legit keepers to snake them so I have no shot at them.

wow

I think it depends on what you want to do in 2012. I think I would have a real hard time dropping any of Harper, Trout, Profar, Miller and Moore.
I think I would keep Stanton, Harper, Trout, Miller, Moore and Bautista. Harper, Trout, Miller and Moore all should be up in the big leagues in 2012, so you might be able to draft a few of the guys you drop.

Will promote to front page as this is a real interesting keeper question.

If I were you, I'd keep:

Harper, Moore, Fielder, Stanton, Kinsler and I’m not 100% sure on the last one.

Is there any way you can package a pair of the players for a better keeper? Even if you “lost” the trade, I think you would still be ahead.

Just a spitballing idea-what about packaging Fielder/Hamels/Profar for someone like AGon or Miguel Cabrera? Looking at your team, there is likely an owner who has one or two great keepers, but only fair for the rest.

My main problem is the way we do our draft I will have any pick between 7-12. Im worried any of these guys I don’t keep I won’t have much of a shot at. Matt Moore and Cole Hamels are two guys I’m really struggling between and I’m starting to lean towards Moore.
Harper and Trout are my next two I’m really thinking about. Posey is one of my favorite players but I think I need to put that aside and do what’s best for my team now and the future. On one hand I think I will regret not keeping some of my prospects when they start playing in the Majors everyday and someone else have them. On the other hand I’m worried keeping guys who may not have an impact on my team until later will cause me to lose games early.

Keep some of each.

Of the group of current major leaguers, I’d say keep Fielder, Bautista and Stanton. We already know that Fielder and Bautista are fantasy beasts and Stanton is on his way to being one in the near future. You don’t want to let any of those guys go. I’d keep Trout, Moore and Harper from the minor leaguers. We already know that Trout and Moore can produce in the majors and have all the ability in the world to keep it up for a future career. Harper is not a guy you let get away just because of his potential. He may not make it to the Nationals this season but he will definitely be there in 2013. Regardless, he’s a once in a lifetime guy who you can’t drop.

4 MLB's + 2 ML's = 6 keepers

Tough and thought provoking “problem”. If you have only 6 plane tickets to give
out who would get them from this group ? Depending on format, I’d say Bautista, Stanton, Fielder, Harper, & Moore with a coin flip between Hamels & Kinsler for the final ticket. Tha’s based on 5 × 5 roto format.
