Questons for PIT/SD

Open date: Atlanta, Cincinnati, Houston, Seattle

Pittsburgh at San Diego 8:15 p.m.

QB Ben Roethlisberger has lost both games since his return from an appendectomy, and he has looks bad.  I'd go so far as to say he has been Bollerian!  With a sub-50% completion rate following two seasons of 60+%, I am beginning to form an opinion that he may not be able to come back for a productive 2006.

However, with no TDs and 5 INTs, I wouldn't be surprised to see him rebound to a more typical 240 yards and two scores.  Will he, though, against an excellent San Diego defense with a monster pass-rusher like Shawne Merriman, taken 12th overall pick in the 2005 draft with one of the picks the Chargers got in the Eli Manning trade?

Without an effective Roethlisberger, none of the WRs offer fantasy teams much optimism.  TE Heath Miller is a solid play as the expected levels of production from the position are minimal - 4 catches and 40-50 yards.

The questions surrounding the Chargers are once again centered on the play of QB Phillip Rivers.  He is not asked to do a lot so his expected level of performance is only a good completion percentage and no turnovers.

With the bar so low, he isn't a good play, and I wouldn't want to be forced into starting him against the Pittsburgh defense coming off its embarasing performance in Week Three and a bye.  Uh-oh.

Woe is be the Chargers offense if the Steelers stop the run!
