Blake Bortles signs with the Green Bay Packers

The Packers add another former first-round signal caller to their roster.

The 29-year-old Blake Bortles gets a one-year deal from Green Bay. Perhaps because of Aaron Rodgers’ unhappiness, or perhaps because the Pack only have A-Rod and Jordan Love on the roster. Only time will tell. Here are more particulars:

Bortles has a career 59.3% completion rate and 103 touchdown passes against 75 picks. This isn’t noteworthy unless A-Rod actually does wiggle free from Green Bay somehow. Then it’s noteworthy because you’re freaking out about the value of Packers skill guys—namely Davante Adams, Aaron Jones, and Robert Tonyan. That said, it isn’t like you can sell any of those guys off right now for 80 cents on the dollar. This could just be a depth move for the Packers.

Here’s a fun fact: this now means the Packers have three former first-round quarterbacks on their roster. Do we think all three will be on the roster by the time the NFL season begins? I’d love to hear what Green Bay fans think about this one....
