Fantasy Hockey 2012: Injury Report

Tuukka Rask, Bruins - He hurt himself on Saturday while he was trying to do a save. We don't know what is injured nor how severe it is at this time but you can imagine it isn't going to be pretty with the way he needed help off the ice. If you own him, hold until we hear more.

Steve Downie, Avalanche - He injured his shoulder during Saturday's game and did not make it to Sunday's game. It's not known how severe the injury is but be sure to keep your ear out for more news. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Kimmo Timonen, Flyers - He seems to have suffered some kind of lower body injury but it seems severe enough where he has already been determined to be out indefinitely. This doesn't sound good for owners so be sure to bench him until more info becomes released but I wouldn't hold out hope he will help much the rest of the season.

More injury news after the jump...

James van Riemsdyk, Flyers - He broke his foot during Thursday's game and it's been reported that his surgery will require four to six weeks of healing time. This certainly knocks him out for the rest of the season so you're free to dump him to waivers if you're in redraft leagues.

Kris Letang, Penguins - He received a hard hit during Wednesday's game and has been getting mild concussion symptoms. What makes this so worrisome is that he was knocked out for a couple of weeks earlier this season due to concussion-like symptoms. It would not surprise me if the Pens play it safe and shelf him until the playoffs to see if he's getting any better. Bench and hope...

Tomas Vokoun, Capitals - He suffered a lower body injury on Saturday's warmups but it's being called day-to-day at this time. Bench him for now and keep your ear open for any news of a start.

Jimmy Howard, Red Wings - He suffered a lower body injury during Sunday's game and it's considered a day-to-day issue. Since this is fairly new news, keep your ear open for more information.

Cal Clutterbuck, Wild - He suffered an upper body injury during Friday's game and missed today's game due to the injury. He is considered day-to-day.

Niklas Backstrom, Wild - He pulled his groin and it will sideline him from two to four weeks. This means he will be gone until at least the middle of March to perhaps the week before the end of the season. Bench him and go pick up Josh Harding for the time being.

Al Montoya, Islanders - He suffered an upper body injury and it doesn't seem that he will be playing anytime soon. Sounds like Evgeni Nabokov will get a great majority of the stars for the forseeable future.

Michael Grabner, Islanders - He's battling the flu so he will be out for a couple of games. Bench him until further notice.
