Thoughts on every single NFL game and every single player that’s fantasy relevant for Week 10.

Welcome to the Rundown where I give at least a sentence on every single fantasy relevant player this week. Let’s begin!

Teams on bye: Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, and The Washington Football Team.

Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals

Lamar Jackson couldn’t be slowed by the Patriots’ dominant defense last week. In Baltimore’s Week 6 meeting with Cincy, he shredded them both through the air and on the ground. He’s the overall QB1. Marquise Brown hasn’t shown us a ceiling game in ages but this is a great spot for him to change that. Expect a few deep, exciting connections between him and Jackson. He’s a flex option with high-end WR2 upside. Mark Andrews has stumbled as of late but his health is improving and a date with the Bengals’ linebackers should yield Top 5 TE numbers. Neither Willie Snead nor Myles Boykin are recommended plays, given the low-volume nature of the Ravens’ passing attack. Mark Ingram II might be spelled by Gus Edwards sometime in the 3rd or 4th quarter, but until that happens, Ingram should eat up the Bengals’ front-seven. He’s a back-end RB1. Edwards could be started as a zero floor/touchdown ceiling flex.

Ryan Finley is in dire straits. Baltimore’s secondary has drastically improved as the season’s progressed and AJ Green is Out. Leave Finley in free agency. Both Auden Tate and Tyler Boyd are volume-based flex options. Their ceilings are capped though. Alex Erickson has seen volume in recent weeks. He’s not more than a low-end PPR flex option though. Tyler Eifert should not be in your lineup. Joe Mixon is just an RB3. It’s a tough matchup and this offense could be shutout. Ignore Giovani Bernard.

Josh Allen and his rushing-floor-ways sprint into Cleveland’s FirstEnergy Stadium, with a much deserved mid-to-low QB1 ranking. Allen should have no issue putting up stellar numbers against Cleveland’s unimposing pass defense. John Brown remains a WR2, although his ceiling has not been as high as expected. Cole Beasley is a PPR-based flex option, coming off 3 straight games with a touchdown. Tight ends Dawson Knox and Tyler Eifert have flashed but have not consistently produced. They are not recommended starts at TE. As we predicted he would, Devin Singletary had his breakout last week. He’d won the snap count battle in all but one game that he’s been healthy for. Last week though, he won the touch battle too and capitalized. He’s a rock-solid RB2 from here on out. Frank Gore will retain a grinder role but he’s of little consequence. He’s a low floor/low ceiling flex.

Baker Mayfield’s dreary 2019 is expected to continue this week against Buffalo’s stampeding pass defense. He’s just a back-end QB2. Odell Beckham Jr. is likely to be shadowed by shutdown cornerback, Tre’Davious White. Beckham is just a low ceiling flex option. In the two games the Browns have played since their Week 7 bye, Jarvis Landry has racked up an absurd 23 targets. He’s a high floor flex option with easy WR2 upside in PPR leagues. He’s just a capped ceiling flex option outside of full-point PPR. Antonio Callaway and Rashard Higgins belongs on benches (or in free agency). Tight ends Ricky Seals-Jones (if he plays) and Demetrius Harris are low-end TE2s. The debut of Kareem Hunt hurts Nick Chubb’s ceiling. Dontrell Hilliard was already functioning as the team’s pass catcher — for whatever boneheaded Freddie Kitchens-based reason. Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears

Update, morning of 11/10/19: Team doctors have refused to allow Matthew Stafford to play today, due to a back injury. Stafford wanted to give it a go but his request was denied. Jeff Driskel will start at quarterback for the Lions but he is not a recommended fantasy start.

After three strong weeks, Matthew Stafford is likely to come back to Earth a bit in a tough matchup against the Bears’ secondary. He’s on the QB1/2 fringe, as the QB12. Given their outstanding usage, Kenny Golladay retains back-end WR1 status although a WR2 finish is possible, while Marvin Jones Jr. holds down a moderate WR2 ranking. Danny Amendola cooled off last week after back-to-back hot, high target-volume games. He’s likely to stay frosty this week — best left on the bench. TJ Hockenson garnered respectable volume since the team’s Week 5 bye, in all but one of the team’s 4 games. Chicago’s TE defense has been lackluster for 3-straight weeks, making Hockenson a reasonable start as a moderate TE1. With Tra Carson being placed on IR, the Lions’ backfield turned into a mostly two-man committee between Ty Johnson and JD McKissic. Johnson saw more touches last week but McKissic outproduced him. Both are mild-to-moderate flex options with Johnson slightly favored in Standard and McKissic in PPR. McKissic has the higher upside. It’s a good matchup too, as the Bears’ run defense has been subpar.

Mitchell Trubisky faces a paltry Lions’ pass defense this week. That doesn’t matter though. The inept signal caller needs to be left in free agency. He’s a high floor/capped ceiling WR2. Avoid tight ends Adam Shaheen and Trey Burton. In a cake matchup against fantasy’s most RB-friendly .5PPR run defense, the battered and bruised Detroit front-seven makes for an enticing David Montgomery-start. He’s a high-end RB2 with RB1 upside.

He’s an RB2 in a good matchup. LeSean McCoy is only startable as a very desperate flex option.

Update, morning of 11/10/19: LeSean McCoy has been announced as Out today. He’s a healthy scratch. Damien Williams should now be considered a mid-to-high RB2 with a chance to squeak into the Top 12 in scoring by weekend’s end.

Ryan Tannehill continues to be an excellent matchup-based streaming option. That goes for this week, as he assumes the QB15 slot. KC’s pass defense is Top 10 in fantasy points allowed to opposing QBs. With Corey Davis trending towards missing this week’s game (hip), AJ Brown would likely see his highest target total of the year. He’s a flex option with fairly good upside. Adam Humphries could see 2nd-flex, PPR-worth usage in this projected shootout as well. Like Corey Davis though, Delanie Walker is also trending in the wrong direction to play. Jonnu Smith would be a streaming-quality TE1 in that instance. Last week, Dion Lewis was surprisingly given some early game work. Once Derrick Henry got going in the 2nd-half though, the athletic mammoth bulldozed his way to a Top 5 finish across all formats. It’s possible that Henry was being disciplined for something unknown Whatever the case, he’s a mid-tier RB1 this week in a smash spot against the near-nonexistent KC Run D. Worth noting, the return of DL Chris Jones takes some of the fun out this matchup for Henry.

He just doesn’t have much left in the tank — a 2nd-flex option in PPR-only. Of the ancillary pass catchers, only WR Andy Isabella could be given streaming consideration as a boom/very likely to bust flex option. Of TEs Charles Clay and Maxx Williams, WRs Pharoh Cooper, KeeSean Johnson, and Damiere Byrd, someone is likely to score.
Jameis Winston finds himself as the overall QB2 this week. His volume and talent make him matchup-proof. Calvin Ridley is a flex with, albeit hard to reach, PPR WR2 upside. Russell Gage has taken over the Mohamed Sanu role, making him a 2nd-flex. Austin Hooper is a matchup-proof Top 3 TE. Although Ito Smith is out and he’ll only have to compete against No. 3 back Brian Hill, Devonta Freeman is just the RB23. This is a brutal matchup for him.

Drew Brees showed no ill-effects from his thumb surgery, in his return to action in Week 8. Coming off the bye, the whole team should be well rested and healthy. Brees is the overall QB3 in this unbelievably soft matchup. Michael Thomas a Top 5-at worst WR. Field stretchers Ted Ginn Jr. and Tre’Quan Smith are both candidates to find the end zone this week, with Ginn being the favorite given Smith’s lengthy injury-absence. Ginn is a boom/bust flex option. Smith a boom/bust 2nd-flex. Jared Cook is a TE1. Alvin Kamara has returned as a full practice participant. Expect the stud back to have some work taken off of his plate after Latavius Murray played so well in his absence. Kamara is the RB3, while Latavius in an RB3 with back-end RB2 upside. The Falcons defense is notoriously bad against opposing backfields. Both should be in owners’ lineups.

Ryan Fitzpatrick finds himself elevated to the QB22 spot, more so due to poor QB competition rather than a good opportunity. The Indy defense is solid and does a good job of limiting deep completions. With Preston Williams on IR and no other usable WRs to choose from, Fitz will likely lock-on to DeVante Parker who’s found the end zone in 4 of the last 5 games. He’s a legit WR2. Loving his big-bodied targets, Fitz also favored TE Mike Gesicki last week. The tight end hauled in 6 of 6 targets for 95 yards. He’s a TE1 streamer. Disregard other pass catching option for our purposes. Mark Walton got slapped with a 4-game suspension so it’s likely Kalen Ballage Time. The unexciting, oversized pass catching back should see 15 touches or more. He’s a risky RB3. Don’t be surprised if the coaching staff can’t stomach his play and opt to send Myles Gaskin out there instead. Gaskin is not a recommended start this week but he could be stashed.

Colts Update 11/9/19: Jacoby Brissett has been downgraded to Out. Brian Hoyer will start in his stead.
Jacoby Brissett has managed to practice in a limited fashion everyday this week, after spraining his MCL in Week 9. He’s a game-time decision but I consider him likely to start. If he plays, he’s likely to help the team get a lead before being pulled for backup Brian Hoyer. He’s a mid-to-high QB2 in this fantastic matchup.
Not much is expected of Jared Goff this week. He’s a mid-to-low QB2. Cooks’ absence likely means more work for Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods though. Kupp is a back-end WR1. Woods is a flex with slight WR2 upside in PPR. Cooks’ absence also enhances Gerald Everrett’s outlook. Everrett has made the leap into the TE1 ranks on his own merit, this is just a big plus. He’s a great start. Todd Gurley II faces a stiff test this week. He’s just a mid-tier RB2. As mentioned in the rankings, Darrell Henderson Jr. has double-digit touches in back-to-back games. He’s a low-end flex whose workload should continue to increase as the year progresses.

Like his Week 10 counterpart, Mason Rudolph also faces stiff competition. His poor outlook is further hurt by JuJu Smith-Schuster being Questionable for Sunday’s game with a toe injury. Diontae Johnson would likely takeover as the No. 1 receiver, he’s just a flex either way though. James Washington is not an advised start. Ryan Switzer would be in line for slot duty, should JuJu rest, but he should be left in free agency. Vance McDonald likely to be leaned on heavily in this one. He’s a TE1. James Conner is Out, making Jaylen Samuels the team’s lead back. Folks will be concerned over Trey Edmunds run game usage from last week. However, we have to keep in mind that Samuels was coming off surgery and still managed to lead the team in targets and catches — a perfect 13 of 13. He’s a mid-tier RB2. Edmunds will get work in the run game — possibly 12 or so carries. He’s a flex option in Standard.

Green Bay’s pass defense is top notch. Both DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel are just flex options, albeit with strong upside given their gamebreaking abilities. The newly signed Donte Moncrief is ignorable. Greg Olsen continues to operate as a decoy, although this is a strong matchup.
Kirk Cousins has been largely awesome as of late. The Dallas defense is the real deal though and the absence of Adam Thielen dampens the light of his Week 10 outlook. His saving grace is that game script should keep the team throwing. He’s on the QB1/2 fringe. With Adam Thielen Out for Week 10, Stefon Diggs is set to pop off as a WR1. Bisi Johnson and (incredibly) Laquon Treadwell are both fringe low-end flex/2nd-flex options. Tight end usage has somewhat increased in Minnesota recently. Dallas is poor against the position. If you are desperate, Kyle Rudolph could be started. As could Irv Smith Jr., but it’s not recommended. As always, Dalvin Cook is a high-end RB1 regardless of opponent.

Minnesota’s pass defense has been extremely up and down. Dak Prescott should provide fine QB1 numbers, especially since Amari Cooper, although listed as Questionable, is expected to play. Given Cooper’s Questionable tag (and possible workload), Michael Gallup can be teed up as a flex play with WR2 upside. Ancillary pass catchers like Randall Cobb, Devin Smith, and Tavon Austin can all be ignored. Jason Witten saw a spike in targets last week. It’s unlikely that happens again this week though he could see 1-2 more than normal, given Cooper’s sore knee. He’s a fringe TE1/2. MNF: Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers

Although Russell Wilson has his work cutout for him against the 49ers dominant (outside of last week) defense, he’s a locked and loaded QB1. Playing at an MVP level, it’ll be a fun night, watching him go to war against his old teammate, Richard Sherman. Tyler Lockett remains a WR1 in this matchup as he’ll mostly avoid Sherman’s perimeter coverage, running most of his routes in the slot. DK Metcalf will face his stiffest test of the year on Monday Night. Catching passes from Russell Wilson though, he’s still a strong flex option with WR2 potential. I expect Josh Gordon to play this week. Pete Carroll is an ego manic and he’ll want to make a statement. Gordon wont see heavy volume but he will see deep shots schemed for the express purpose of making a statement. Gordon can be started as a risky, yet possibly rewarding, flex option. With the deployment of Gordon, Jaron Brown and David Moore are shit outta luck. Leave them in free agency. Tight end Jacob Hollister should be used a zero floor/touchdown ceiling-only option. Chris Carson is a matchup-proof RB1/2 fringer. Rashaad Penny’s workload is likely to be capped at 5 carries. Ignore the wasted 2018 1st Round Pick.

Unlike San Francisco, Seattle’s defense is not good. Jimmy Garoppolo should boom this week — albeit within his realm of possibilities. Wilson and Co. will put up points and Jimmy G will be asked to respond. He’s in the packed group of high-quality QB2 streaming options. We will update the column when we have Saturday’s practice information. He’d remain a high-end TE1 if he plays. Emmanuel Sanders is a rock-solid WR2 with serious upside if Kittle were to sit. Deebo Samuel would be a flex option if Kittle is out. Dante Pettis would be a 2nd-flex option is Kittle is out, as would Marquise Goodwin. Leave Kendrick Bourne and Richie James Jr. in free agency. Tevin Coleman can be expected to produce reasonable RB2 numbers. Matt Breida is a great flex option, given the likelihood that SF has to pass to keep pace with Seattle.

Q: Who will end up with the number one pick?
— Dan. T

Likely candidates: Bengals, Dolphins, Washington, Jets and Falcons. Do the Browns just shut Baker Mayfield down and try to tank for Tua? DRAMA!!!!!! (No they don’t, they just need a head coach who knows what he’s doing.)

Anyways, my money is on the Bengals to wind up with the number one pick, decide that Andy Dalton needs one more chance to see if he can be the starting QB of the future and draft an offensive lineman first overall, aka Andrew Thomas. Then, with the number two pick in the draft, the Jets draft Tua Tagovailoa and hold him for ransom for the Dolphins, asking for every draft pick they got, which of course they give up because they’ve been telegraphing the fact that they’re tanking for Tua all freaking season. Then the Falcons snag Chase Young and give each other firm pats on the back. The Jets then go on to draft the best player at each position which ultimately doesn’t help them because Adam Gase is still their head coach and enjoys destroying teams from the inside out.

Did I just 100% correctly predict the start of the 2020 NFL draft? I think so.

Q: Full point PPR. DJ Moore, DeVante Parker and Aaron Jones. Need 2.
— @dfav71

DeVante Parker is a lock given that Ryan Fitzpatrick loves him and now has no one else to throw to. I think he’s easily going to see 10-12 targets against the Colts this weekend and he’s good enough to be able to do something with them.

Jones is risky but I have a hard time not starting him against a Panthers defense that’s giving up the most points to running backs the last four weeks. The return of Davante Adams seemingly has cut into Jones’ work in the passing game, there should still be plenty of work for him on the ground. I actually expect both him and Jamaal Williams to produce this week. D.J. Moore is far from a bad play, but while the Packers secondary as been picked on recently, they still are really good at keeping receivers out of the end zone, allowing the fifth fewest touchdowns to receivers this year.

Who to put in your line up to secure a Week 10 victory.

It was another mixed week for my must starts with two solid top-15 running back performances from Jamaal Williams (16.9 points, RB12) and Ronald Jones (16.2 points, RB14) and a solid outing from Michael Gallup (11.3 points, WR32), who spectacularly somersaulted into the end zone for a touchdown for the Cowboys. Tyrell Williams gave a solid but unspectacular 7.8 points as he didn’t pick up the touchdown I forecasted but poor Diontae Johnson saw just 2 targets for the Steelers as Mason Rudolph ignored his receivers and threw 20 passes to Jaylen Samuels and Vance McDonald. Urgh.

Onto this week and with a whopping 6 teams on bye, I’ve dug deep to bring my must starts to help you win that vital Week 10 match up.

WR DeVante Parker, Dolphins @ Colts 34.1% owned

It’s taken until Week 10 but the first Dolphin has hit the must start list. In Parker’s case its a little by default as the season-ending knee injury to Preston Williams and the suspension for Mark Walton have made a further 10+ targets available in the offense. Parker is coming off a run of four straight games with at least 11.5 PPR points and the Colts present a pretty average pass defense so I’m confident the volume and production is there to give a solid WR2/Flex option this week.

QB Ryan Tannehill, Titans vs Chiefs – 12.6% owned

Tannehill has averaged 20.5 fantasy points in his 3 starts since taking over from Marcus Mariota, making him a Top-10 fantasy QB over the last 3 weeks. This week he faces a Chiefs team with a returning Patrick Mahomes so it’s likely to fall on Tannehill to keep up with the Chiefs expansive offense. The Chiefs give Tannehill a solid floor to work from this, allowing 18.8 points per game to QBs in 2019. Plus don’t underestimate Tannehill is playing for his NFL future. Give the former wider receiver a chance this week and thank me later.

RB Jamaal Williams, Packers vs Panthers – 65.2% owned

Back to the well on this one after Williams performed so well for me last week. I expect Williams to again provide the perfect foil to Aaron Jones who I also expect a big week from. The Panthers are ranked 30th against the run and they average 5 receptions a game to running backs, which is perfect for Williams as he hauled in all 6 of his targets last week for 39 yards and a touchdown. I expect the same this week for Williams.

WR Marquise Brown, Ravens @ Bengals – 60.6% owned

I am forecasting a big game ahead for Brown who returned after a 3 game absence last week and though his number weren’t striking (4 targets, 3 catches for 48 yards), he goes from facing the league’s best pass defense in the Patriots to the 29th in the Bengals. Lamar Jackson is proving he can pass as well as run and having his top receiver a further week removed fro injury gives me confidence Hollywood is going off this week.

QB Sam Darnold, Jets vs Giants – 13.4% owned

This one may be a stretch based on some of Darnold’s recent performances, but in a week where we have 6 teams on a bye, you have to dig a little deeper, especially in 2 QB/Superflex leagues. Match-up wise, the Giants have allowed 19.9 points per games to opposing quarterbacks and Darnold has completed over 70% of his passes the last 2 weeks. If he can have a clean game and keep the turnovers to a minimum, Darnold could be that gem that shines for you in Week 10.

Bonus Start – Ravens D/ST @ Bengals – 63.6% owned

Against a rookie QB making his first start you have to fancy the Ravens will cook up a plan to confuse Ryan Findley. The Ravens defense is also on the rise in recent weeks and with their top 3 offense looking hard to stop, it’s likely to fall on Findley to attempt to keep up. The Ravens have been a top-7 unit against the run in 2019 so I expect them to carry this on against the historically poor Bengals rushing attack. If they are out there on waivers this week, snap up the Ravens defense and enjoy the fireworks.

Here is the way this game works. I will supply the Weeks matchups. With each matchup will be the line as of the last 24 hours. What you need to do is:

Step 1: Pick 3 teams who are NOT the favorites that you think will cover the spread

Step 2: Well…that’s it

We went collectively -78 this week, we are awarded no points and may God have mercy on our souls. The best score of the week was Pete’s -3.5 due largely to him trusting the Browns to collapse as a favorite. Meanwhile the Jaguars collapse trapped Feslen and RK to a -21.5, the Titans disappointing outing got RK, Pete and me.

Heath ranks the safety blankets.

Week 10 is upon us, which is crazy. We can officially begin plotting for the playoffs...or start looking ahead to next year. It is always a slightly sad time (for me) when I realize the season is going to rapidly hit a downswing. Let’s all keep holding on for as long as we can.

On bye this week are the Broncos (Noah Fant), Texans (Darren Fells), Jaguars, Patriots, Eagles (Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert), and Redskins. So, one elite option in Ertz and a trio of TE2 types are not at our disposal. So we should have some decent options left to us in Week 10, despite six teams being on byes.

*Update: Evan Engram (mid-foot sprain) has been ruled out. So that’s another option we’ll be without.*

1 Travis Kelce @ TEN - I’m ranking Kelce as though Mahomes will be under center. Kelce has topped 70+ air yards in four of nine weeks, second only to Mark Andrews among tight ends (five of nine). Kelce’s aDOT has been at 7.8 and 7.4 in his two Matt Moore weeks, but his season-long mark is 9.4, so that should give you an indication of how much more upside he’ll have with Mahomes slinging him the rock. Kelce leads all tight ends with 83 targets, has one of the highest aDOT marks, and plays with the best quarterback in the league. His 14 red zone targets tops all tight ends. Any of the top four options is a worthy selection, but I give the slight edge to Kelce if Mahomes is back.

2 Hunter Henry @ OAK - Henry had a good outing against Green Bay, totaling 7-84 on 10 targets. The only tight ends who haven’t had good games against this Raiders defense are Noah Fant (2-29) in Week 1 and Trey Burton (3-16) in Week 5. So, a rookie in his first NFL game and a guy who hasn’t been a factor all year...got it. Overall, the Raiders allow the 9th most yardage and 2nd most scores to enemy tight ends, making this a good draw for Henry, who has become the go-to guy for Rivers and the Chargers. Here are Henry’s target counts by week since he returned from injury: 10, 10, 7, and 10. Henry sports a whopping 10.7 aDOT (tops among relevant tight ends) and ranks 7th in air yards FOR THE SEASON among all tight ends despite missing four full games in 2019. He leads all tight ends in air yards since he returned from injury. He is a fantasy football monster, and I’ll bump him into the top spot this week if Kelce gets the downgrade to Matt Moore again.

3 Austin Hooper @ NO - It appears that Matt Ryan will play, so I’m not understanding the implied 19.00 point total. This is a situation to monitor heading into the weekend. No matter what, Hooper’s floor as the primary safety blanket in this offense will keep him in the upper echelon of options. Hooper has a score in three straight games. If Matt Ryan plays, there’s no reason he can’t push for top honors among tight ends this week. And for what it’s worth, Marshon Lattimore should be trailing around behind either Calvin Ridley or Julio Jones, making Hooper all the more enticing as a primary target in the passing game.

4 George Kittle vs. SEA - The Seahawks are one of the better matchups in the NFL with regard to air yards allowed to tight ends. I looked at all nine weeks to see which defenses allowed 70+ yards to a single tight end in each week, and only the Arizona Cardinals allowed more such games to enemy tight ends than the Seahawks. Seattle has done this in three of nine weeks, while Arizona has done it four times. Kittle’s 13 red zone looks ranks second among tight ends, and Kittle has a whopping 27.31% target share for San Francisco. In the two games with Emmanuel Sanders, he has seen a total of 16 targets, while Sanders has seen 15. This, despite only 23 passing attempts by the Niners as a team in Week 8. If you’re doing the math, Kittle has as 28% target share in the two games he’s played with Sanders. He’s still the man...now he just has a little help! Update: Kittle is dealing with a left knee injury that has been described as “fine,” but that’s enough for me to ding him a couple of notches this week. Another situation worth monitoring. If we get word that Kittle is fully healthy heading into this one, a case can easily be made to slot him into the top spot.

5 Mark Andrews @ CIN - He has eclipsed 70+ air yards in five of nine weeks, the most such weeks of any tight end in the NFL. And when he was a bit hobbled in Week 3, Hayden Hurst had 72 air yards...so it’s possible Andrews could have had a whopping six of nine weeks past my arbitrary mark had he been healthy for that one. Anyway, last week’s matchup against New England was brutal. But against these same Bengals in Week 6, Andrews logged 72 air yards and tallied a 6-99 line on 8 targets. I’ve seen more than a few people be down on him lately, but you can’t afford to be that way at a position this thin.

6 Darren Waller vs. LAC - Waller had a dud in Week 9, his second straight week with only two catches. However, his ability to rack up yards after the catch and make big plays keeps him relevant, as evidenced by his 52 yards on those measly two catches last week. And the week prior he still saw a healthy 8 targets. I’m not concerned for Waller, not yet. He’s still a worthy mid-tier tight end—he just has a healthy Tyrell Williams, an emerging Hunter Renfrow, and a run-centric offense to contend with. The Chargers aren’t a great matchup, but with Waller you only need one big play to justify this ranking.

7 Mike Gesicki @ IND - He ranked third in air yards in Week 9 with 75 (excluding the MNF game) and caught 6-of-6 balls for 95 yards as the Dolphins snagged their first win of the year over the hapless Jets. Meanwhile, the Colts allowed Vance McDonald to post a 5-30-1 line on 7 targets last week, good for the No. 6 overall showing. So this is hardly pushing it, as Gesicki’s athleticism now meets great opportunity with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center. It is unfortunate that we lost standout rookie receiver Preston Williams due to an ACL tear last week, but that means we can somewhat safely project that DeVante Parker and Mike Gesicki are going to be target-hogs for the foreseeable future. I’m hopping on this train early, in season-long leagues and in daily fantasy. You can find me with 100% Gesicki at only $5,300 on FanDuel this week.

8 Jack Doyle vs. MIA - Look, I’ve been going Ebron over him all year, but Doyle is on the field so much more. If you’re in a league that rewards receptions, I’d roll with Doyle, who has a higher floor in that regard. And the matchup is cake, obviously. I’m hoping for a shootout here. Come on football gods, give me what I want!

9 Greg Olsen @ GB - The Packers are fresh off of allowing 105 air yards to Hunter Henry. Makes sense when you consider the quality of their boundary CBs...this team reminds me a bit of Minnesota in this regard. Targets to tight ends against Green Bay bears out this hypothesis, as the Packers have allowed the 5th highest amount of targets to tight ends in 2019. Only the Chiefs, Vikings, Bucs, Cardinals, and Seahawks have been attacked by tight ends more. Olsen sort of got back on the map with a 3-40 line on 5 targets last week. I can sign off on him as a lower-end TE1 option given the matchup and given Curtis Samuel’s mid-week hamstring injury (and last week’s shoulder injury).

10 Gerald Everett @ PIT - No more Brandin Cooks should help Everett out a bit. Here’s a nice nugget from Tags over at FantasyPros, one that shouts out Everett and this week’s coverboy, Gesicki:

There have been just six tight ends who've averaged at least 55 air yards per game since the start of Week 5. #FantasyFootball

Hunter Henry
Gerald Everett
Zach Ertz
Travis Kelce
Mark Andrews
Mike Gesicki
— Mike Tagliere (@MikeTagliereNFL) November 4, 2019

The only “surprises” to the layperson should be Everett and Gesicki. In what is already a thin position, these two make for viable starters in Week 10 given the byes and the injury to Evan Engram.

11 Jonnu Smith vs. KC - Speaking of injuries, Delanie Walker was still sidelined as of Wednesday, so Smith makes sense in this matchup. The Titans as home underdogs seems like a fine place to take a shot on a tight end. If you’ve been using Jonnu, I think you’ve got this one last week before you cut bait with him. As previously stated, the Chiefs are frequently attacked with tight ends, allowing the 2nd most targets to tight ends on the season. 58 receptions allowed to enemy tight ends so far is the third highest mark in the NFL, trailing only the Vikings (59) and Cardinals (62). It’s a quality matchup in a game the Titans should be trailing...you could do much worse.

12 Jason Witten vs. MIN - Anybody ever watch the movie Troy? Remember the scene where Brad Pitt’s Achilles smites the giant Boagrius within seconds and then shouts to the entire remaining enemy army: “IS THERE NO ONE ELSE? IS THERE NO ONE ELSE?” That’s how I feel right now. But this is a good matchup, volume-wise, as the Vikes give up the most targets in the NFL to opposing tight ends. That, and Witten is coming off of his best game of the year, where he snagged 8-of-9 targets for 58 yards. This isn’t a high ceiling play, but it is as viable as any other I can find to round out the TE1 options this week.

13 T.J. Hockenson @ CHI - He saw 7 targets last week, tied for second on the team alongside Kenny Golladay. This could theoretically coincide with the Lions’ loss of Kerryon Johnson (and them finding no other viable candidate in the running game). The Bears have allowed the 4th most yardage to tight ends this year, trailing only the Cardinals, Buccaneers, and Seahawks. So there’s room for upside if Hockenson continues being one of the top three options in this passing attack.

That’s the lucky 13 this week. At this point you’re fishing, and I’d start with Eric Ebron in a prime matchup against Miami. Yes, Doyle is the chain-mover, but Ebron is the big play threat who has a better chance to score. And yes, O.J. Howard is a viable TE2 target this week since he’s back and healthy. It’s still a premier matchup for tight ends, and it makes sense that Patrick Peterson will be trying to slow down Mike Evans—which obviously means it’s time for a Chris Godwin week. However, after Godwin, maybe we actually see Howard get something going. But I wouldn’t feel great about it.

Vance McDonald against the Rams is probably a slightly safer bet, and he’s coming off of a solid week anyway. You could try to talk me into Kyle Rudolph against Dallas given Adam Thielen’s absence, but I’d rather just take the upside in the form of Irv Smith Jr. Chris Herndon IV has a plus matchup, but he’s still limited in practice. I’d like to see an actual game from him first. Lastly, Jared Cook could be back on the radar if he gives it a go, but that game could get lopsided in a hurry. I worry about Cook’s volume—plus, it’s his first game back. Again, I’d like to see a game first.

That’s it for me this week! Who did I miss?

5 bold predictions for Week 10 football.

Prediction 1: Marquise Brown is a top 15 WR this week against the Bengals

Justification: He has been held to less than 50 yards since week 2 but he will shine against the Bengals now that he’s a bigger part of the offense and the Bengals secondary gets exploited. Last week would have been large had they not removed him part way through the game.

Prediction 2: The New York Jets are a top 5 D/ST this week

Justification: Facing the Giants, the Jets have actually been playing well lately, they had 4 sacks against the Dolphins last week, two weeks ago they got a fumble recovery against Jacksonville to go with 2 sacks and even against the Patriots they got an interception. When you look at their track record against lackluster offenses (Miami, Buffalo and Cleveland) they put up serious points.

Prediction 3: Mitchell Trubisky throws for over 300 yards for the first time this season

Justification: I get it, the Bears are bad on offense but so are the Lions secondary. They have now allowed every quarter back except Carson Wentz to throw for at least 285 yards including Kyler Murray, Philip Rivers, Kirk Cousins, Daniel Jones and Derek Carr.

Prediction 4: Buffalo at Cleveland over under is 40.5, give me under at 34.5

Justification: Cleveland has scored over 20 in one of their last four games. Buffalo has scored over 25 points in one of their last four. Cleveland’s offense looks inept and against Buffalo won’t go far, meanwhile their defense should amp it up against Buffalo this week.

Prediction 5: For just the 2nd time in the last seven weeks Chris Carson does not get 100 yards or a touchdown

Justification: San Francisco’s rush defense is very strong. They have let two players get 100 yards or a rushing touchdown this season. Baltimore was the only other team to stop Chris Carson lately.

Recapping Week 9

Prediction 1: Nick Folk, most recently of the AAF, will be a top 3 kicker this week

Recap: He was 12th best kicker, far from top 3 but not the worst for a 15% owned player (Grade: C)

Prediction 2: Lamar Jackson is projected as a top six QB this week, he will not finish in the top 20

Recap: This went about as much in the opposite directions as what I thought as possible. If you sat him (as I did) I sincerely apologize. (Grade: D)

Prediction 3: Ricky Seals-Jones is a top 7 TE this week (projected 24th)

Recap: Getting hurt half way through the game really hurt this projection. (Grade: D)

Prediction 4: Washington Redskins vs. Buffalo Bills over/under is 37. Give me the under at 31.5

Recap: My lone decent prognostication of the week, final of 33 which was slightly above the 31.5 and well below the 37. (Grade: B)

Prediction 5: Mark Walton (47% owned) is a top 10 RB this week

Results: 29 rushing yards and 12 receiving yards and to top it off, he’s now suspended. The worst part is the Dolphins won, so the notion was right, execution was all off (Grade: D)

The guys give their Week 10 starts & sits and best number for a wide receiver to wear.

Pete, Clark and Jordan open the show talking about the sacrifices they make for fashion and how to properly wear a hood (1:00). Then it’s onto Week 10 starts & sits, including buy all the Colts this week vs the Dolphins, Robby Anderson or Jamison Crowder?, start A.J. Brown but not his quarterback, JuJu Smith-Schuster vs Jalen Ramsey is not a matchup you want & much more (4:00). Plus, the guys give The Oracle a call to pick between starting David Montgomery or Mark Ingram this week (52:15).
