Semifinal week! Let’s rank the big guys.

In case you missed it, I already said Travis Kelce was the TE1 this week.

Kelce had a “meh” game by his standards, but at least it wasn’t a zero (sorry, Keenan Allen owners). Anyway, it seemed odd to make a set of weekend rankings and to omit Kelce as the overall TE1. So to punish myself for not getting ranks out before Thursday Night Football, I’m ranking a few extra guys this week. Instead of a Top 20, you get a Top 24! And no, it doesn’t include the aging carcass of Antonio Gates, because he was my TE27 this week. Despite his “moves” that were on display against the Chiefs, I am still uninterested in Gates in every conceivable format.

Ranking the best wide receivers by matchup and opportunity for Week 15 of the 2018 NFL Season.

Traditionally, I use this space to talk about what happened last week at the wide receiver position throughout the NFL. This week, though, I’m going to talk about how poorly my playoff teams performed last week and why fantasy football is just one big, giant crapshoot.

I’m in three season-long leagues. The playoffs started in two of them last week and I was the 3rd seed in each of them. I felt pretty confident in both teams, although I’m very used to being let down come playoff time. Unsurprisingly, my teams completely wet the bed. One of my squads put up 88.18 points and the other a whopping 84.40 (0.5 PPR in both).

Led by stellar performances from Zach Ertz (6.3) and James White (3.8), my higher-scoring team inevitably fell by 15 points on Monday night to a squad that had Seattle defense. The lower-scoring team someway, somehow managed to pull off a victory. Despite getting 7.3 points from Todd Gurley and 9.7 from Mitchell Trubisky in what was supposed to be a shootout, my team ended up winning by 30 (!!!) points against a team that had absolutely nothing go its way.

What is my point in bringing all of this up? That projections don’t matter whatsoever and fantasy football is meaningless. But, man, is it fun and is it glorious to win playoff matchups or what?

Let’s check in on the Week 15 diva pass-catchers.
