Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across MLB. Each week, we send out questions to the most plugged-in fans across the country. Sign up here to join Reacts.
Earlier this week the San Diego Padres and star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. agreed to an enormous contract extension worth a reported $340 million over 14 years. Tatis Jr. is entering only his third year in the majors, but has already emerged as one of the game’s young and most exciting stars.
However, baseball fans aren’t quite ready to anoint Tatis Jr. According to the most recent SB Nation Reacts survey, fewer than one-third of fans think the shortstop is the next “best player in baseball.”

Who do you think is the next best player in baseball? I might agree with the majority that Tatis Jr. isn’t a locked-in, clear No. 1, but the guy does offer plenty of swagger and flair to carry the title of the face of MLB. He did just land the cover spot of MLB The Show 21.
Though I guess here I’m also wrong as even fewer fans believe he is currently the most exciting player in the game.

I mean, that seems a bit low if you ask me. The plays Tatis makes both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball easily ranks him as one of the most exciting players in MLB right now.
Oh well, clearly I’m in the minority.
