Tiered RB rankings for Week 9.

Week 9 is here and so are my fantasy football running back rankings.

Undrafted rookie James Robinson out of Illinois State leads all rookies in rushing yards (481). He faces a weak Houston defense this week. Injuries plague good options: Chris Carson, Aaron Jones, Christian McCaffrey, Austin Ekeler and every San Francisco 49ers running back. Next up! Damien Harris appears to be grabbing RB1 role in New England and Chase Edmonds is chomping at the bit for more carries if Kenyan Drake is out.

Notable RB Injuries that occurred in week 8: Tevin Coleman (knee);

Notable Line injuries that occurred in week 8: Ravens: Ronnie Stanley (LT); Bills: Mitch Morse (C ); Steelers: Tyson Alualu (DL); Raiders: Maurice Hurst (DT); Sam Young (OT); Patriots: Lawrence Guy (DT); LAC: Joey Bosa (DE); Saints: Sheldon Rankins (DT);

2020 Week 9 RB Rankings

Ranks High Floor/High Ceiling RB1s Team Opponent Breakdown (Injured Status)
Ranks High Floor/High Ceiling RB1s Team Opponent Breakdown (Injured Status)
1 Alvin Kamara NO at TB Earlier this year vs. Tampa Bay he had 1 Rush TD, 1 Rec TD
2 Dalvin Cook MIN DET Detroit allows 3rd most points to RB, Injury issue appears to be gone
3 Derrick Henry TEN CHI This is a TD dependent matchup, CHI has allowed six RBs to score TDs
4 James Robinson JAC HOU 119 yard TD performance in Week 7 - comes to Hou who has allowed 9 rush TDs
5 Chris Carson SEA at BUF (Q) Buffalo's defense is slowly getting worse and Carson had a game off to heal
6 Josh Jacobs LV at LAC Possible fatigue from excess use by LAC allows big points to teams that rush at least 12+ times
7 David Montgomery CHI at TEN He likely scores this week but rush yards probably drop back to 50yds after strong week 8
8 Aaron Jones GB at SF (Q) SF has allowed 1 RB (Darrell Henderson Jr) to rush for over 65 yards this year
9 Clyde Edwards-Helaire KC CAR Decrease in rush att over last two weeks; appears to still be RB1 - Car allows 3rd most RB pts
10 Christian McCaffrey CAR at KC (IR) Matt Rhule hopeful McCaffrey's ankle is strong enough to play
11 Todd Gurley II ATL DEN Seven total TDs scored across five of his last six games but Den has allowed just 2 Rush TDs
12 James Conner PIT at DAL TDs in 5 of his last 6 games, facing an average Dal rush defense
Ranks High Floor/High Ceiling RB2s Team Opponent Breakdown (Injured Status)
13 Chase Edmonds ARI MIA Did well with 5 carries and now he faces a porous Miami defense. Top 15 upside if Drake is out
14 David Johnson HOU at JAX 16+ attempts in three of his last four games - that means 90+ yds against Jacksonville D
15 Ezekiel Elliott DAL PIT I don't trust any RB vs. this Pittsburgh Dline. Even with Di"nooch" at QB
16 Jerick McKinnon SF GB Every and any SF RB is hurt right now
17 J.K. Dobbins BAL at IND Indy's rush defense is very strong but they have allowed TDs to RBs in each of the last three games
18 Ronald Jones II TB NO Tandem at back with Leonard starting to get more carries
19 Damien Harris NE at NYJ NE RB platoon - anyone could thrive but it appears Damien has lead chair. NYJ rush D is bad
20 Justin Jackson LAC LV Trying to figure out who is getting the LAC carries is a headache - changes each week
21 Antonio Gibson WAS NYG Gibson rushed for 128 yards & 1 TD in week 7; however NYG isn't allowing much to RB
22 Devin Singletary BUF SEA Seattle's D isn't allowing yardage but RBs are scoring on them over the last three matchups
23 Leonard Fournette TB NO Leonard got some usage last week - could be headed for more
24 Melvin Gordon III DEN at ATL Platoon with Phillip Lindsey against a solid Atlanta rush defense
Ranks High Floor/High Ceiling RB3s Team Opponent Breakdown (Injured Status)
25 D'Andre Swift DET at MIN D'Andrew Swift isn't getting a lot of carries or yards but he is getting TDs
26 Phillip Lindsay DEN at ATL Platoon with Melvin Gordon III against a solid Atlanta rush defense
27 Jonathan Taylor IND BAL Not sure who will emerge between Taylor, Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins but Ravens are tough
28 Brian Hill ATL DEN Brian Hill is on the doorstep of RB2 territory with Atlanta
29 Joshua Kelley LAC LV The LAC platoon is tricky
30 James White NE at NYJ If it's not Damine, White should be next up to bat
31 Devonta Freeman NYG at WAS (Q) I've said it before - this Washington rush defense is STRONG
32 Le'Veon Bell KC CAR I'm guessing the uptick in carries was largely due to him playing his ol dteam
33 La'Mical Perine NYJ NE He's splitting with Frank Gore but I think one of these weeks he gets the lions share
34 Adrian Peterson DET at MIN Adrian got has been trending above Swift until last week, he could sneak in a TD this week
