Course

Sedgefield Country Club. Established in 1926, this 7,120 yard par 70 course was designed by Donald Ross. It is fairly open featuring some thicker roughs and rolling hills. The generous space must be used, if players wonder off too much, they will need a weed Wacker to get their ball out.

My Starting 4

Webb Simpson (1st selection this year) — This is the obvious choice here. He finished third here in 2017 and second here last year. He comes into this tournament finishing second at WGC – FedEx St. Jude

Ryan Armour (1st selection this year) — Ryan finished fourth here in 2017 and eight here last year. He is currently fourth in Driving Accuracy, 14th in scrambling, fourth in approaching proximity to hole and 14th in total birdies.

Alex Noren (2nd selection this year) – Alex is playing well lately, he finished 11th at the Open Championship and 12th at the WGC – FedEx St. Jude. This is his first time at Wyndham so we shall see how his inauguration into Sedgefield goes.

Nick Taylor (1st selection this year) — He was a top 50 finisher the last two years at the Wyndham Champion, 50th two years ago and eight last year. He has made seven consecutive cuts largely behind some strong putting and could be a sleeper pick.

My Bench 2

Brian Gay (1st selection this year) – Brian has been a top 50 finisher each of the last two years at Sedgefield. His recent success has me nervous – three missed cuts in his last four tournaments and four MC in his last six tournaments, hence the bench spot.

Jonathan Byrd (1st selection this year) – He finished in the top 40 each of the last two years here. Jonathan has two top fifteen finishes in his last four tournaments alongside one missed cut. He’s 45th in strokes gained around the green.
