With the NFL Draft over, I figure it’s the perfect time to start getting too excited for fantasy football way too early. It’s also the perfect time for me to do my semi-annual rookie rankings. We don’t do a whole lot of fantasy football dynasty content here at Fake Teams but in the past I’ve had some fun throwing out my initial rankings for the incoming rookies and seeing how I fair at the end of the season (pat myself on the back for having Baker Mayfield as the best incoming rookie QB for fantasy last year).
So without further ado, here are my top 40 rookies for dynasty leagues (and just fantasy ranking in general). Who am I too high or too low on? Let me know in the comments!
Dynasty rankings
RANK | NAME | TEAM | POS | NOTES |
---|---|---|---|---|
RANK | NAME | TEAM | POS | NOTES |
| N'Keal Harry | NE | WR1 | Big, physical, Harry is going to catch a lot of touchdowns from Tom Brady |
| Josh Jacobs | OAK | RB1 | Automatic three down back for the Raiders’ new offense |
| David Montgomery | CHI | RB2 | Bruising back who’ll thrive in Matt Nagy’s system |
| D.K. Metcalf | SEA | WR2 | Likely no Doug Baldwin means Metcalf could see a huge workload this year |
| Miles Sanders | PHI | RB3 | As the edge over Jordan Howard with his ability in the pass game |
| A.J. Brown | TEN | WR3 | Fantastic wide receiver, just have to trust Marcus Mariota |
| T.J. Hockenson | DET | TE1 | Perfect landing spot, I love this will all my heart |
| Noah Fant | DEN | TE2 | Joe Flacco loves his tight ends |
| Parris Campbell | IND | WR4 | Fits beautifully in the slot between Hilton and Funchess |
| J.J. Arcega-Whiteside | PHI | WR5 | Has all the potential to be a touchdown machine in Philly |
| Marquise Brown | BAL | WR6 | Who is Brown going to be competing with for targets? |
| Deebo Samuel | SF | WR7 | Pretty easy path for him to be WR1 in SF |
| Andy Isabella | ARI | WR8 | Wildly productive in college and can burn defenses with speed |
| Kyler Murray | ARI | QB1 | Kliff Kingsbury better walk the walk |
| Mecole Hardman | KC | WR9 | Don’t expect him to be a perfect Tyreek Hill replacement |
| Hakeem Butler | ARI | WR10 | HUGE receiver who’ll be taught how to catch by the greatest receiver to ever catch |
| Devin Singletary | BUF | RB4 | He’s got two 30+ year old backs ahead of him, if either go down, Singletary’s arrow skyrockets |
| Darrell Henderson | LAR | RB5 | Clearly Gurley is going to be on a snap count this season |
| Irv Smith Jr. | MIN | TE3 | Like Flacco, Kirk Cousins also loves his tight ends |
| Damien Harris | NE | RB6 | I’m fully relying on a LeGarrette Blount 12+ touchdown role for Harris |
| Jace Sternberger | GB | TE4 | Yea Jimmy Graham is still there, but is he really competition? |
| Terry McLaurin | WAS | WR11 | Dwyane Haskins’ favorite receiver in college, sign me up |
| Justice Hill | BAL | RB7 | He fast but has a bunch of backs in front of him |
| Dwayne Haskins | WAS | QB2 | Going to be the starting QB by Week 1 |
| Alexander Mattison | MIN | RB8 | Lock for RB2 in Minnesota and Dalvin Cook doesn’t have the best injury record |
| Riley Ridley | CHI | WR12 | Savvy route runner who’s sure to get touches in Bears’ offense |
| Benny Snell Jr. | PIT | RB9 | Don’t be surprised if he becomes Pitt’s goal line back |
| Diontae Johnson | PIT | WR13 | The Steelers can turn anyone into a fantasy viable receiver |
| Jalen Hurd | SF | WR14 | Could be a red zone threat for the 49ers |
| Miles Boykin | BAL | WR15 | I’m not sure the Ravens’ run-first offense can support two fantasy receivers |
| Kelvin Harmon | WAS | WR16 | With a wide open receiver depth chart, anything could happen |
| Daniel Jones | NYG | QB3 | I mean, he’s going to play at some point this season |
| Drew Lock | DEN | QB4 | I mean, he’s going to play at some point this season Part II |
| Emanuel Hall | CHI | WR17 | He fast |
| Rodney Anderson | CIN | RB10 | Plagued by injuries and well behind Joe Mixon |
| Bryce Love | WAS | RB11 | Out with ACL tear but when fully recovered, could easily be Washington’s No. 1 back |
| Mike Weber | DAL | RB12 | Smart back to can hit the right hole |
| KeeSean Johnson | ARI | WR18 | Kingsbury might be running base 5-WR formations, you never know |
| Ryquell Armstead | JAC | RB13 | When was the last time Leonard Fournette played a full season? |
| Darwin Thompson | KC | RB14 | Chiefs’ backfield is an open book |
