This week’s top 10 is chalk full of blow-up spots. Lamar Jackson and Dak Prescott have fabulous matchups against Houston and Detroit, respectively. Patrick Mahomes takes over the No. 2 spot behind Jackson. Drew Brees and Jameis Winston prepare to face-off in Tampa Bay — the likely absence of Saints CB Marshon Lattimore bodes very well for Winston’s outlook. Kyler Murray should once again feast on the 49ers defense. Things are different this time though, given San Fran’s exhaustive overtime showdown on Monday Night. A short week, following an excess of snaps should make for an easy opponent. A sharp drop-off occurs in the QB2 world with a mix of bad QB play and tough matchups.
Teams on bye: Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, Seattle Seahawks, and the Tennessee Titans
Week 11 Quarterback Rankings
Rank | Quarterback | Team | Opponent | High Floor/High Ceiling QB1s |
---|---|---|---|---|
Rank | Quarterback | Team | Opponent | High Floor/High Ceiling QB1s |
1 | Lamar Jackson | BAL | HOU | Glorious matchup for the most dynamic quarterback in the game. |
2 | Patrick Mahomes | KC | at LAC | Mahomes showed no ill effects from the knee injury, lighting up the box score last week. |
3 | Dak Prescott | DAL | at DET | Prescott is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. This week, he's teeing off against of the worst pass defenses in the league. It's a perfect match. |
4 | Drew Brees | NO | at TB | Per Adam Levitan on Twitter (link below), Tampa Bay is a heavy pass-funnel defense. Brees could throw for 350+ yards this week. |
5 | Josh Allen | BUF | at MIA | Expect a heavy helping of sandlot football this week. Allen's likely to shred Miami on the ground. RB1 rushing numbers are possible. |
6 | Tom Brady | NE | at PHI | Philly's porous secondary stands no chance at slowing Brady's production this week. |
7 | Jameis Winston | TB | NO | Saints' stud cornerback Marshon Lattimore pulled his hamstring in Week 10, boding very well for both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Eli Apple can only cover one of them at a time. Although the Saints' defense is strong overall, this is a potential blow-up spot for Winston. |
8 | Deshaun Watson | HOU | at BAL | It's possible Watson makes me eat crow for this one. The likely game script gives him a Top 3-5 but the stout secondary must be factored in. |
9 | Kyler Murray | ARI | at SF | The 49ers are a great team but coming off of a short week, overtime loss featuring 88 offensive snaps and 74 defensive snaps, it will be tough for them to keep pace with Kliff Kingsbury's offense. |
10 | Derek Carr | OAK | CIN | Given the bye weeks (and the absence Russell Wilson Aaron Rodgers), Carr's date with Cincy makes him a Top 10 option. |
11 | Jacoby Brissett | IND | JAX | This is a nominally strong defense. Brissett should ratain QB1 rights this week. |
High Floor/Questionable Ceiling QB1 | ||||
12 | Kirk Cousins | MIN | DEN | With Adam Thielen likely to return, Cousins should have his full supporting cast back. Even in a tough matchup, low-end QB1 results are reasonable. |
High Floor/Capped Ceiling QB2s | ||||
13 | Matt Ryan | ATL | at CAR | In what could be a low-key QB duel, Ryan should see ample opportunity to produce. The insertion of RB Brian Hill into the offense should be an improvement. |
14 | Philip Rivers | LAC | KC | KC's offensive production could coax more passes out of the Chargers' but Rivers is unlikely to surpass high-end QB2 numbers. |
15 | Carson Wentz | PHI | NE | The bye week allowed for extended game planning but the lack of a vertical threat has capped Wentz in the QB2 range. The Patriots defense won't let him surpass his established ceiling. |
16 | Kyle Allen | CAR | ATL | CMC's receiving work should carry Allen to high-end QB2 results |
17 | Jimmy Garoppolo | SF | ARI | Last time they squared off, Jimmy G had his best game of the year. He and his offense are coming off an extra 20 or so snaps though. He's just a high-end QB2. |
18 | Sam Darnold | NYJ | WAS | Darnold's rankings are always tough with Adam Gase running the show. This is an outstanding matchup though. |
19 | Nick Foles | JAX | at IND | A moderate QB2 projection is all we can hope for in Nick Foles return to action. Indy's defense is solid -- as is the Jacksonville offensive supporting cast. |
20 | Baker Mayfield | CLE | PIT | The Steelers defense is the real deal but Mayfield has largely managed mid-tier QB2 numbers as of late, regardless of the defense. |
21 | Brandon Allen | DEN | at MIN | Allen acquitted himself well last week and has a chance to hit mid-tier QB2 numbers against Minnesota's nominally strong defense. |
22 | Mason Rudolph | PIT | at CLE | The return of James Conner should boost Rudolph's floor. |
23 | Jared Goff | LAR | CHI | The Rams' offense is out of sorts and this is not the matchup to expect them to get back on track. |
24 | Ryan Fitzpatrick | MIA | BUF | Buffalo's D/ST should feast this week. |
Low Floor/Low Ceiling QB3s | ||||
25 | Jeff Driskel | DET | DAL | Game script and supporting cast could elevate Driskel into the back of the QB2 range. |
26 | Ryan Finley | CIN | at OAK | With AJ Green likely to be "hurt" again this week, Finley and Cincy's run-regardless-of-game-script offense (h/t Rotoworld Podcast episode Week 10 Roundup: Game-by-Game Review) are unlikely to provide useful fantasy production at quarterback. |
27 | Mitchell Trubisky | CHI | at LAR | A brutal matchup for the bad player. |
28 | Dwayne Haskins Jr. | WAS | NYJ | A raw player stuck in a bad offense. |
