2019 Fantasy Football Rankings: Defenses for Week 6

Top 20 Defenses for Week 6

It was a blowout for the Eagles last week as they topped the D/ST scoring with a whopping 35 points thanks to two defensive touchdowns as they squashed the unprepared Luke Falk who started for the Jets having not seen a single first team rep in practice. The Patriots also continue to roll, finishing with another 15 point total against a dysfunctional Washington team that subsequently fired Head Coach Jay Gruden. The Patriots go again on TNF against the Giants who are missing their top skill position player at running back, wide receiver and tight end and not surprisingly, top the rankings again this week.

The rankings have been updated with the latest owned percentage (from ESPN), so you can see the teams you’re most likely to be able to find on the waiver wire this week, though obviously if you’ve already got ‘em, then start ‘em.

Note: Bears, Bills, Colts and Raiders on bye week.

Week 6 Defense Rankings

Ranking Team Opponent % Owned Comments
Ranking Team Opponent % Owned Comments
1 Patriots vs Giants 98.3% Simply the best defense in the league and facing a Giants team missing all its offensive stars
2 Chargers vs Steelers 82.6% Only the Patriots stop the Chargers being number 1 against an undrafted free agent making his first start
3 49ers @ Rams 36.7% First real test for what looks to be one of the NFL's top defenses
4 Vikings vs Eagles 88.1% A top 6 defense against both the pass and run and an even tougher prospect at home
5 Titans @ Broncos 81.8% A misfiring offense but an elite defense, especially against the pass
6 Panthers @ Buccaneers 54.2% The Panthers are a legit defense who will give Jameis Winston fits in London
7 Eagles @ Vikings 75.5% The league's top run defense faces off against the number 2 rushing offense. Defense wins.
8 Saints @ Jaguars 68.3% They give up yards but have been a sneaky good fantasy defense and the Jags are an average offense
9 Jets vs Cowboys 9.0% The Jets' defense is light years ahead of where the offense has been
10 Steelers @ Chargers 24.7% The Steelers' defense is having to step up and have been doing so after a rough start to the season
11 Packers vs Lions 35.8% Strength on strength with the Packers being stronger vs the pass than the run where the Lions can get after them
12 Cowboys @ Jets 38.0% A better real life defense than in fantasy. Can they suppress a returning Sam Darnold?
13 Seahawks @ Browns 30.0% Against a free-falling Browns offense, the Seahawks could be a sneaky start in week 6
14 Lions @ Packers 1.9% The Lions always play the Packers tough and will do so again this week
15 Texans @ Chiefs 32.0% Tough match up on the road in Arrowhead but a good time to face the Chiefs after their first defeat last week
16 Buccaneers vs Panthers 6.2% The Bucs held CMC in check in week 2 but will struggle to repeat against the most in-form player in the league
17 Browns vs Seahawks 33.8% The Browns' defense has been solid but has a tough task against Russell Wilson and his top 10 offense
18 Rams vs 49ers 89.2% The Rams defense has been up and down and faces the league's top rushing attack
19 Ravens vs Bengals 45.3% The Ravens defense has been off kilter in 2019 but can get healthy against a poor Bengals offense
20 Broncos vs Titans 19.8% After a strong showing last week, expect the Broncos to play the Titans tough at home
