Fantasy Hockey Forecaster: October 7th – 13th

Ready for some HOCKEYYYYYYYYY

Welcome to the first Fantasy Hockey Forecaster of the year! In here, you’ll find:

  • Each team’s ranking for goalies, forwards, PK and PP against the other teams in the league. These stats are as of 2/21/2019.
  • Three players who are on fire (this might not even be points wise, it might be an uptick in play that signals to me they are on the cusp of some point production
  • Three players who are cooling off (this will also include players that aren’t materializing the way we expect)
  • Three free agent pickups (among all players under 50% owned, preferably some in the single digits and some that are close to 50 to feed all different sizes of leagues)
  • The schedule which will show each team they play and what the individual rankings are for each matchup, this is more useful in the daily leagues where you are looking at individual matchups

3 players who are on fire (or players who might look good out of the gate)

  1. Jake DeBrusk (62% owned) A top six player on what should be a top 10 offense this year.
  2. Mats Zuccarello (40% owned) Minnesota goes up against the Jets and Penguins and I think Mats has a good opening week.
  3. Micheal Ferland (519% owned) IF he is on that top line with Brock Boeser and Elias Pettersson, his 40 points from last season is the floor of where he can go.

3 players who are cooling off

  1. Dylan Larkin (81% owned) The hit he took in the last preseason game looked rough. I think he’s out for some time.
  2. Andrei Svechnikov (79% owned) I’m nervous about their top line with Jordan Staal and Teuvo Teravainen. I think the 2nd line with Nino Niederreiter, Sebastian Aho and Brock McGinn will be pushing their production.
  3. Nazem Kadri (63% owned) Colorado has a tough matchup and not a ton of games this week with Boston and Arizona.

3 free agent pickups (under 50%)

  1. Tyler Bertuzzi (37% owned) Likely to be top line, at very least top six. Gritty and can score.
  2. Travis Konecny (31% owned). If he is on a line with Sean Couturier and Oskar Lindblom it will be very good but streaky.
  3. Ryan Getzlaf (29% owned). He’s on the decline but he had 48 points last year and I think we see a resurgence of youth especially early this year from him.
