With Week 1 in the books, it’s time to turn our attention to Week 2. Here are my quarterback rankings for Week 2.
QB rankings - Week 2
Rank | QB | Team | Opponent | High Floor/High Ceiling QB1s |
---|---|---|---|---|
Rank | QB | Team | Opponent | High Floor/High Ceiling QB1s |
1 | Drew Brees | NO | CLE | NOLA D is now a liability. CLE will score and Brees will feast in response. |
2 | Cam Newton | CAR | at ATL | ATL lost Keanu Neal and Deion Jones to IR. Cam's gonna Cam. |
3 | Aaron Rodgers | GB | MIN | Tough matchup lowers him from being QB1 |
4 | Ben Roethlisberger | PIT | KC | KC defense can't stop anything and Roethlisberger's playing at home. Will be a shootout. |
5 | Philip Rivers | LAC | at BUF | Joe Flacco just hung 236 yards and 3 TDs on them. |
6 | Patrick Mahomes | KC | PIT | A surefire shootout. Both offenses are loaded and both defense leaky. |
7 | Tom Brady | NE | JAX | Tough matchup removes him from Top 3 |
8 | Alex Smith | WAS | IND | Every QB that plays IND can finish as a QB1 |
Lower Floor/High ceiling QB1s | ||||
9 | Deshaun Watson | HOU | TEN | Watson was a tad rusty, he'll likely improve this week against a beatable TEN D. |
10 | Andrew Luck | IND | at WAS | Threw a high volume of passes but still not throwing deep. |
11 | Kirk Cousins | MIN | GB | Should have plenty of opportunities to sling it. Could lose a TD to efficient run game. |
12 | Russell Wilson | SEA | at CHI | Decimated receiving corps & facing Khalil Mack but excels in sandlot football. |
High Floor/High Ceiling QB2s | ||||
13 | Jimmy Garoppolo | SF | DET | Detroit couldn't stop anything on MNF. |
14 | Tyrod Taylor | CLE | at NO | Ryan Fitzpatrick passed for 400+ & 4 TDs, rushed twice for 36 yards and a score. |
15 | Jared Goff | LAR | at ARI | Goff should have no issue using his plethora of weapons to shred the Cardinals' defense. |
16 | Case Keenum | DEN | OAK | Keenum ripped up the middling SEA D, he'll be a cannonball through Raiders sails. |
Lower Floor/High ceiling QB2s | ||||
17 | Matt Ryan | ATL | CAR | Need to see Sark correct RZ play-calling. |
18 | Matthew Stafford | DET | SF | Likely shootout. Stafford says he's "good to go" but seems to contradict this with "I was lucky to get out of there with not too much (damage)". ** |
19 | Nick Foles | LAR | at TB | Boom/bust QB playing the hapless Bucs D. |
20 | Mitchell Trubisky | CHI | SEA | Showed well against GB and had a designed rush at the goal-line. SEA D isn't what it once was. |
21 | Eli Manning | NYG | at DAL | Has the weapons to work over Dallas defense. |
22 | Blake Bortles | JAX | NE | NE D can be scored on + now being used as a rusher. |
23 | Ryan Fitzpatrick | TB | PHI | Bad matchup but sporadically blows up stat sheets. |
24 | Sam Darnold | NYJ | MIA | Sound decision-making/facing MIA D. |
QB3s | ||||
25 | Marcus Mariota | TEN | HOU | A nerve injury in his throwing elbow combined with the Houston D -- Outlook: Not good. |
26 | Ryan Tannehill | MIA | at NYJ | NYJ defense looks nasty. |
27 | Andy Dalton | CIN | BAL | Good supporting cast, tough matchup. |
28 | Joe Flacco | BAL | at CIN | Need a prove-it week against BAL D to really believe in his revival. |
29 | Dak Prescott | DAL | NYG | O line is hurting and the pass-catching group is appalling. |
30 | Derek Carr | OAK | at DEN | Gruden, like Donny, is out of his element. |
31 | Sam Bradford | ARI | at LAR | Woof. |
32 | Buffalo QB (Josh Allen) | BUF | LAC | Look away. |
