ICYMI: Patrick Reed wins the Masters

Another weekend packed with great sports action.

April is in full swing with the Masters, Baseball, mock NFL Drafts upcoming NHL and NBA playoffs and every and any soccer league.

MLB

Surprise early season stars include Didi Gregorious, Matt Chapman and Ryan Flaherty. Rookie stud Shoehei Ohtani is living up to the hype so far.

NBA

Injury bug has been the story of the season hitting star players all over: Steph Curry, Kyrie Irving (out for the season), Demarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard, Gordon Hayward and Kevin Love just to name a few. Regular season ends on Wednesday April 10th.

NHL

The Regular Season is over, the last few in for the Eastern Conference were Columbus, New Jersey and Philadelphia (with Florida being the last team ousted). In the West it came down to the a heated Colorado Avalanche vs. St. Louis Blues game to decide the final spot there. Colorado came away victorious in the match.

Danny Welbeck scored two for Arsenal, and Christian Eriksen had two for Tottenham Hotspur and Paul Pogba had two for Manchester United as all three teams won eeked out one goal close games this weekend.

MLS

New York FC remains the lone undefeated team but it is Atlanta United, Columbus Crew, LAFC and Sporting Kansas City who own the top scorers in Josef Martinez, Gyasi Zardes, Diego Rossie and Felipe Gutierrez.

Golf

The Masters has it’s 4th consecutive first time winner and it’s Patrick Reed. He held on tight through the last few holes to outlast Jordan Spieth (8 under on Sunday) and Rickie Fowler (5 under on Sunday).

NASCAR

Kyle Busch led for 116 laps and took the Checkered Flag to win his first race of 2018! Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch have been one of the top 3 finishers in eveyr race except Daytona this year (often both landing in the top 3 in the same race).

NCAA Hockey

Minnesota-Duluth scored twice in the first period and held on to the lead for a 2-1 win over Notre Dame. It is their second championship (they beat Michigan in 2011) and they have 4 players who were drafted in previous years (Joey Anderson, Avery Peterson, Nick Swaney and Riley Tufte).

NCAAF

A number of spring training games occurred this weekend including Auburn, Michigan State, TCU, BYI and Houston.

NCAAW

Notre Dame won behind an unbelievable buzzer beater from Arike Ogunbowale (same star who scored to beat UConn). It was their second National Championship (2001).

Rugby (AVIVA Premiership)

The Saracens are hot on Exeter’s tail. Northampton was neck and neck in the first half with them until they scored 48 unanswered 2nd half points to crush them 63-13. The best part is the 9 tries all came from different players – Lozowski, Brits, Spencer, M Vunipola, Williams, Wyles, Maitland, Wray and Earle.
