The Ding Dong Challenge: Ozzie Albies shows up in a big spot

Sign up for Week 3 action!

USA TODAY Sports/Pete Rogers Illustrations

Welcome to the Ding Dong Challenge, a game were we try and correctly predict who will hit the most home runs in a given week, keep score throughout the entire season and win a free, awesome t-shirt. Here’s last week’s report card and this week’s list of “elites”. If you want to play, just pick one player from the “elites” and two players from the “everyone else” category (which is just everyone who’s not elite), then list your team in the comments. The sooner you create your team, the better as you only get the homers from when your team is posted till the end of the week.

Week 2 report card

Name Week 2 Total Elite Everyone Else 1 Everyone Else 2 Total Ding Dongs
Name Week 2 Total Elite Everyone Else 1 Everyone Else 2 Total Ding Dongs
Pete Rogers 5 Ozzie Albies (3) J.D. Martinez (1) C.J. Cron (1) 6
Sixtus74 4 Aaron Judge (1) Nolan Arenado (1) Freddie Freeman (2) 4
Mark Abell 3 Jose Ramirez (0) Jose Abreu (2) Giancarlo Stanton (1) 6
Salti Cracker 1 Mike Trout (1) Giancarlo Stanton (0) Nolan Arenado (0) 7
The Real Slim Shaney 1 Charlie Blackmon (1) Ryan Braun (0) Brian Dozier (0) 1
Feslenraster 0 Jose Ramirez (0) -- -- 0

Blessed be Ozzie! I’m back in the running after a very solid performance from Albies knocking three dingers last week. Yet again I should’ve gone with Mookie instead of Martinez but still, I’ll take at least the one dinger from J.D.

Jose Ramirez let both Mark and Feslenraster down in a big way as the only elite selected to not knock a homer this week. Mark got big help from his bench though with Jose Abreu showing up in a big spot and Sixtus74 in his first week of action getting solid production across the board.

Here’s what the perfect lineup from last week could’ve looked like:

Elite: Didi Gregorius (4)
Everyone Else 1: Joey Votto (4)
Everyone Else 2: Gary Sanchez (4)

Bring on Week 3!
