After an offseason of trade and pay cut rumors, it seems the relationship between Dez Bryant and the Dallas Cowboys is over:
Cowboys expected to release WR Dez Bryant today, barring an unexpected last-minute change of heart, per @toddarcher and me. But the plan going into meeting that is now underway was to part ways with Bryant.

While once one of the most dominate receivers in the game—people forget about his 2014 season when he had 88 catches for 1,320 and 16 touchdowns—Dez has struggled the last few seasons with both injury and getting on the same page with quarterback Dak Prescott. He hasn’t topped 1,000 yards receiving or 70 catches since 2014.
Now it seems Dez will be hitting the open market so it’s time to figure out where’s the best chance for him to revitalize his career, both in the actual world of football, but also the fantasy world, because that’s what we’re all here for.
5. New England Patriots
Look, you can’t make a “best landing spots for a veteran wide receiver” without including the Patriots. Signing Dez Bryant would be the most Belichick move ever. Dez in New England could either be really good (Randy Moss) or it could be really bad (need I remind you about Chad Ochocinco). My worry would be him buying fully into their system which often doesn’t highlight one player, but rather spreads the ball around. That being said, if there’s an 2014 Dez Bryant left in him, Tom Brady is going to milk it out.
4. Tennessee Titans
The Titans are still trying to surround Marcus Mariota with receiving talent and adding a veteran pass catcher like Dez might be the ticket. They tried last year adding Eric Decker but that experiment failed. Plus you’d hope sophomore Corey Davis’ development would be helped by bringing in a veteran like Dez. I’m also going to add the Jaguars here to since they’re in the same division. Imagine Dez and Fournette on the same offense! WOOHOO!
3. Carolina Panthers
I know the Panthers are striving to get faster on offense, but the offense struggled to pass the ball all season and trading Kelvin Benjamin away didn’t help. Giving Cam Newton a big receiver who can high point the ball is exactly what they were trying to do with Benjamin and Devin Funchess, just Dez is better than both of them. He would also bring some leadership and stability to that position.
2. Green Bay Packers
The Packers need wide receivers and Dez needs a quarterback who can throw the back shoulder fade. Check and check. Will this happen? Who knows. This is a new Packers team that actually is active in free agency though they did just clear the books of Jordy Nelson because he is an aging, under achieving receiver, and he struggled for just one season. That being said, the plot line would be so BEAUTIFUL given that the infamous “catch, no catch” happened in Lambo against the Packers.
1. San Francisco 49ers
PLEASE JOHN LYNCH DO IT FOR THE PEOPLE! I’ve put San Fran at the top of almost every list I’ve made because the team still needs that number one guy who can make defenses quake in their boots. Now, I know Dez isn’t still that guy anymore, but in Shanahan’s play action offense, I think Dez could certainly take steps to returning to some sort of 2014 form. Plus I just want to see Dez and Richard Sherman go up against each other each day in practice. I’m setting the over/under of reported fights in practice at 12.5.
BONUS: Philadelphia Eagles
Dez walked out saying I'll see guys twice this year, I'm told. So that's that.
