The Tennessee Titans released veteran running back DeMarco Murray Tuesday, ending his two year stint with the team.
The #Titans have released RB DeMarco Murray. They are going with Derrick Henry as their lead back
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 8, 2018
This move shouldn’t really come as a surprise to anyone as Murray dealt with injuries all last year and Derrick Henry broke out to become the feature back the Titans wanted him to be when they drafted him back in 2016.
The move saves the Titans $6.25 million in salary.
It’ll be interesting to see where Murray ends up. He’s no longer the workhorse running back he once was, but he could still give a team a decent veteran back. Murray finished 2017 with 184 carries for 659 yards and six touchdowns with 39 catches for 266 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, time to buy all the Derrick Henry shares you’ve got. After being a question mark heading into fantasy drafts the last two seasons, finally you can draft Henry with confidence knowing that he’ll be the back in Tennessee in 2018. That is of course until the Titans blow all of our minds and trade a bajillion picks for Saquon Barkley because the Football Gods just hate fantasy football and want to make us all suffer.
I kid. Hopefully.
Get hyped for the Henry Era in Nashville.
