7 players who are underrated right now in fantasy basketball

Please, get these guys on your fantasy team!

Here are seven undervalued players that you might find available off the wire:

Josh Richardson, 58.4% owned

Still bewilderingly underowned at less than 60%, JRich is a top 50 player who’s owned less than MFing ZBo, and I ride and die for ZBo, so no disrespect intended. It’s just that you’re an old man, and JRich is one of the best under-25 year olds in the entire NBA. He’s owned less than Ancient Taj, which is the most hysterical thing that’s ever happened to anyone. JRich has basically the same ownership as Trevor Ariza but is twice as valuable. It’s weird, man, I seriously think it’s his name: “Josh Richardson” is hella boring. It’s hurting his fantasy value. He literally gives you all good stats, but nothing stands out as exceptional, so he’s dismissed for just being merely great at everything, rather than sensational at just one thing. If he’s on your waiver wire, and you don’t pick him up, then you’re a fantasy basketball criminal. And, may God have mercy on your soul, because the Fantasy Basketball legal justice system will not.

He’s averaging the 6th most steals over the past 30 days, btw. Not that you care. You cold, heartless, basketball-hating bastard.

Mario Hezonja, 18.6% owned

Super Mario has been a top 50 player over the last month, averaging 14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 46% shooting. His minutes may trend down with other Orlando players getting healthy, but that would be a shame, because Hezonja may finally be coming into his own. He’s only 23 years old, remember. Even if he returns to a bench role, Super Mario opened some eyes with his improved play. The Magic would be foolish to curb his development now. Hope for front office wisdom and pick up Super Mario.

JaMychal Green, 33.8% owned

Green’s been spectacular recently, getting a double-double in 8 of his last 9 games. He’s a top 50 player over the last month, and he’s getting stronger as the season rolls along. Pick him up if he’s on the wire and enjoy his dub-dubs. A 12-10 stat line is never unwelcome in a fantasy player’s house.

Joe Ingles, 46% owned

Ingles is another top 50 player over the last month, and his problem is similar to Josh Richardson’s. He seems boring and so no one wants him. Which, sure, I get that. But, Ingles is getting 2.9 3PM per game over the last month. Only 14 other players are making more. Grab this man and enjoy his points, please. Just because he’s a boring white Utahn doesn’t mean he can’t hit late game back-breakers, or sink a long range bomb right up in your dome piece like Jerome’s niece. (I assume Joe Ingles is a Nas aficionado since he’s alive.)

DeMarre Carroll, 55.3% owned

Yo, BK DMC has been on fire recently. He went for 22 and 10 the other night (against the Kings, but still!). He’s had a higher value than Victor Ola-Goddamn-Dipo over the last month, and while that isn’t, like, going to be real forever, it’s sure as hell real right now! And, can I tell you something that might blow your mind because of how this very column was structured? You know those 14 dudes I mentioned that were making more 3s than Joe Ingles? Guess who the F is one of those 14 dudes. DeMarre. MFing. Carroll. Kuh. Boom.

Here’s a receipt for that brain bomb you ordered. I’ll leave it here in the bits of skull and greymatter. Have a nice day and thank you for shopping at Head Blowers*. (*We may change the name since people laugh whenever I say it, for some reason.)

Bojan Bogdanovic, 39.5% owned

As Divine Dipo has somewhat, kinda, jussst a lil bit slumped recently, Bojan has been the Pacer who’s stepped up and supported the team. He’s scored 20+ in 3 of their last 4 games. He’s top 30 in true shooting percentage in the entire league. He’s producing more fantasy value than Draymond Green right now. Think about that. Dray is a top 25 fantasy player, no doubt, and Bogdanovic has him beat over the past month. And, just to keep the heads blown (?), remember Joe Ingles 2.9 3PM per game? Bogdanovic is at 2.6 3PM, tying him with Klay Thompson and Golden Gary Harris over the past month.

D.J. Augustin, 17.9% owned

I mean, Orlando’s just the best, aren’t they? D.J. Augustin has scored in double digits in 10 of his last 13 games. Since Orlando traded Elfrid Payton, Augustin has been a top 15 point guard in my league. What’s even better is that Payton has been a top 5! I don’t know how to analyze basketball when it comes to Phoenix and Orlando, so I’ll just say this: volume, like water, is necessary for (NBA) life. D.J. Augustin is currently inundated. Trust his volume, and enjoy his production.
