3 waiver wire quarterbacks you should add for Week 8

Recommended QB adds for Week 8 of the 2018 NFL Season.

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at San Francisco 49ers Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Mitchell Trubisky, CHI QB (vs. NYJ)

53% owned in Yahoo! Leagues, 51.1% owned in ESPN Leagues

Trubisky is technically over the 50% owned threshold, however, he needs to be owned in 100% of leagues at this point. Although his on field play leaves a lot to be desired, the Matt Nagy system and Trubisky’s rushing floor have resulted in finishes of QB1, QB5, and QB2 over his last 3 games.

This week, the Bears face off against a Jets defense that has allowed – in some cases very – usable fantasy outings from Blake Bortles, Case Keenum, Andrew Luck, and Kirk Cousins over the last 4 weeks. Don’t shy away from the Bears’ passer now.

Baker Mayfield, CLE QB (at PIT)

41% owned in Yahoo! Leagues, 40.6% owned in ESPN Leagues

Mayfield threw for 215 yards and 2 touchdowns in Week 7 – adding 43 yards on the ground. As discussed last week, Mayfield is a legitimate QB1 starter in each of the next 3 weeks (at Pittsburgh, vs. KC, vs. ATL). With that slate of cakewalk defenses, he’s a locked-in low-end QB1.

C.J. Beathard, SF QB (at ARI)

9% owned in Yahoo! Leagues, 6.5% owned in ESPN Leagues

Beathard put up a dud last week, but there’s reason for optimism leading up to his Week 8 date against the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona has a sneaky good pass defense, however, Beathard was able to throw for 349 yards, 2 touchdowns, 2 interceptions while rushing twice for 7 yards and a score in their Week 5 matchup – and that was without now-healthy playmaker Marquise Goodwin locking down San Francisco’s No. 1 wide receiver role.

Additionally, Arizona’s All-Pro CB Patrick Peterson is reportedly demanding an immediate trade. A discontent Patrick Peterson and a DB room in disarray should be positive for the 49ers signal caller.
