Tight End Rankings: Week 7

Heath ranks the big guys for Week 7.

NFL: Los Angeles Chargers at Cleveland Browns Scott R. Galvin-USA TODAY Sports

I have no preamble this week, but I do have rankings! And the title said “rankings,” so no one should be overly disappointed. Hit me up on the Twitter machine @HeathCapps if you want to banter.

Get ‘em while they are hot...

Week 7 TE Rankings

RANK PLAYER OPPONENT NOTES
RANK PLAYER OPPONENT NOTES
1 Travis Kelce vs. CIN You can't go wrong with Kelce or Ertz, both target-monsters.
2 Zach Ertz vs. CAR His 71 targets lead all tight ends by a mile--Kelce is second with 59.
3 Eric Ebron vs. BUF He is third in targets with 55, but first in red zone looks with 15.
4 George Kittle vs. LAR He has a floor of six targets...he hasn't been below that number in any week all year.
5 Rob Gronkowski @ CHI I can't drop him lower than fifth, and I realize it is a risk, but I love the guys ahead of him.
6 David Njoku @ TB No more Josh Gordon and he has seen a whopping 11 targets in each of the last two weeks.
7 Trey Burton vs. NE His floor is basically four targets, so you're hoping he scores...but the upside is undeniable.
8 Jordan Reed vs. DAL With Crowder out last week, Reed saw a season-high nine targets. Crowder is doubtful to play.
9 O.J. Howard vs. CLE He's basically Trey Burton--upside but low volume.
10 Greg Olsen @ PHI In his first game back last week he managed seven targets, tied for second on the team.
11 Kyle Rudolph @ NYJ He has caught 27-of-31 targets, but the issue is the low volume and lack of RZ targets.
12 Austin Hooper vs. NYG Hooper (6) leads Atlanta in RZ looks and ranks second in overall targets for Atlanta.
13 C.J. Uzomah @ KC This is a prime spot for everyone to bank on him and for him to flop...good luck.
14 Ricky Seals-Jones vs. DEN It ain't pretty, but at least he gets a decent amount of targets.
15 Evan Engram @ ATL I wouldn't trust him in season-long leagues, but I can't rank him any lower.
16 Charles Clay @ IND Call this a hunch, since he has an actual NFL-caliber passer throwing the ball this week.
17 Cameron Brate vs. CLE He could catch a touchdown.
18 Benjamin Watson @ BAL He is due for a touchdown.
19 James O'Shaughnessy vs. HOU He's the starter? Tight end is a travesty? What else can I say?
20 Geoff Swaim @ WAS I pity anyone who is reliant on any tight end past the first 15 guys.
