Short answer: No.

Short answer:

No.

Long answer:

I’m currently 0-2 in one of my leagues and much like how the Giants are changing everything to right this wrong, I figured I’d spice up my team a little bit to see if I could breath a win into it.

To this point, I’ve been rather disappointed in Marcus Mariota and his fantasy performances. I had him on my hype train and am not the only one who thought that he was in for a big time fantasy season. Now, jury is still out and I’m not at all saying that if you’re a Mariota owner, you should be giving up hope and ditching him ASAP. Not at all.

But, given that I’m in a smaller league and there were plenty of other quarterbacks on the waiver wire, I thought, why the heck not take the opportunity to spice up my quarterback position and see who’s out there.

Well, there’s someone out there. A big somone.

Touchdown Trevor, the man, the myth, the legend.

Am I crazy for wanting to start Trevor Siemian over Marcus Mariota? I proposed this question on Twitter, but I’m curious to see what you the readers think.

On paper, it makes sense. Siemian has not only been playing worlds better than Mariota, he also has a much more favorable matchup going against the Buffalo Bills as compared to Mariota facing the Seattle Seahawks. That being said, so far this season both defenses have been strong against starting quarterbacks, each allowing only 10.6 and 9.3 points respectively (per NFL.com scoring). (That being said, the Bills defense has faced whichever awful quarterback that’s currently starting for the Jets and Cam Newton. Not exactly the best QBs in the league.)

I think the reason it feels weird is I’m kind of reluctant to admit that the Touchdown Trevor we’ve seen through two weeks is the real Trevor Siemian. He could come crashing down to Earth against Buffalo, or he could continue to score touchdowns better than anyone else in the league. WHO KNOWS!?

Ultimately, I think starting Siemian is the right move. I think you ride the hot hand until the hand is plugged into a bucket of ice and you’re left out in the cold. But hopefully when that time comes around, Mariota will be the one lighting it up.

Thanks for caring about my team!
