Maybe it doesn’t seem like the most exciting move of the football offseason, but Boldin has been amazing consistent at scoring fantasy points throughout his career.
Only once in his 14 year career has he failed to score at least 100 total fantasy points. Last year he ended with 106.4 total points—6.7 per game—good for WR45. In his only year with the Lions, he had 95 targets, 67 catches for 584 yards and eight touchdowns.
The biggest thing he’ll bring to Buffalo is a savvy route runner out of the slot and a big frame for the red zone. He’ll also be insurance for when Sammy Watkins inevitably misses time this season and Zay Jones doesn’t breakout as quickly as people expect. His addition could also help Tyrod Taylor’s stock if the two of them are able to get on the same page quickly. Boldin doesn’t drop many passes as evidenced by his 70.5 catch percentage which would have led all Buffalo receivers last year.
I’m not sure Boldin is worth a draft and stash but he is certainly someone to keep eyes on on the waiver wire. Despite his age, he always seems to be able to put up fantasy points and I think it’s a safe assumption to think that that won’t be changing anytime soon.
