  • J.A. Happ was great in a win over the White Sox. The Blue Jays starter went 7 innings allowing just 1 run while striking out 10. This was his highest strikeout total of the season. It was also his 1st outing to go 7 innings since April 5. Happ has has quite a down year compared to his 2016 where he was 20-4 with a 3.18 ERA. This start moves him to 4-8 with a 3.92 ERA this year. Josh Donaldson had a solo HR and 2 runs scored in the win. Donaldson He has now homered in 3 straight.
  • Ervin Santana tossed a complete game against the Padres. He allowed 4 hits and 2 runs (on a 2-run HR) and struck out 9. Santana leads the majors with 5 complete games this season. He is now 12-7 with a 3.28 ERA for the year. Miguel Sano was 2 for 4 with a solo HR and 2 runs scored. Sano is hitting .269 with 25 HR and 71 RBI this season.
  • The Tigers beat the Yankees 2-0 in a game with over 4 and a half hours of rain delays. Shane Greene earned his 2nd save in as many days with a perfect 9th inning with 2 Ks. Masahiro Tanaka fell to 8-10 on the year despite a solid start. He pitched allowing 6 hits and 2 runs (1 unearned) and struck out 7. He now has a 2.89 ERA with 63 strikeouts in his past 8 starts.
  • Adam Duvall hit a 2-run HR in a Reds win over the Pirates. Duvall would finish with 3 RBI in the win. He now has 24 HR and 75 RBI on the year. Raisel Iglesias pitched 2 scoreless innings to earn his 18th save of the year. Iglesias has been great this year with a 1.88 ERA and 0.99 WHIP. The Duvall home run came against Pirates closer Felipe Rivero. Rivero entered the game while the Pirates were down a run. Despite the 2 run blimp, Rivero still has a minuscule 0.99 ERA.
  • Baseball is fun. The Marlins sent out a starter with an ERA over 6 against the top scoring team in the National League. Miami would relieve said starter with another pitcher who has an ERA north of 6. So of course those 2 pitchers (Vance Worley and Odrisamer Despaigne) would not only shutout the Nationals, they would also hold them to just 4 hits in total! Dee Gordon was 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored and 2 stolen bases. He also had a triple. Gordon is now at 40 SB for the season which puts him 4 behind Billy Hamilton for most in baseball.
