  • Giancarlo Stanton was 3 for 3 with a double and a 2-run HR in a Marlins win over the Padres. He finished with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Stanton now has an even 50 HR this season. His chase for the single season HR record will fun to watch in September.
  • Carlos Carrasco tossed 7 shutout innings as the Indians beat the Royals 12-0. He allowed just 6 hits while striking out 8. Carrasco improves to 13-6 on the season with a 3.78 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. Francisco Lindor was 2 for 3 with a 2-run HR. Lindor now has 24 HR on the season. The Indians pitching staff held the Royals scoreless in all 3 games during the series sweep.
  • Masahiro Tanaka tossed 7 innings of 1 run ball in a Yankees win over the Mariners. He had 10 strikeouts in the win. He has a 2.96 ERA with 52 Ks since the All Star break. Starlin Castro was 4 for 4 with a double and 2 runs scored. He recently returned from a lengthy DL stint and should offer a big production boost at 2B.
  • Byron Buxton had a huge day in a Twins win over the Blue Jays. He went 4 for 5 with 3 home runs and 5 RBI. He also had 4 runs scored and a steal. The former 2nd overall pick has 8 HR and 8 SB in August.
  • Starling Marte was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI in a Pirates win over the Reds. He also had a run and a stolen base. Marte is hitting .263 on the year with 13 SB and 33 runs scored. Joey Votto did not have an AB as he walked 5 times on Sunday. Votto leads the majors in walks (109) and on base percentage (.447).
