  • Robbie Ray pitched well in his return to the mound for the Diamondbacks. Ray went 5 innings allowing 2 hits and 1 run while striking out 9 against the Mets. Ray landed on the concussion DL after being hit in the head by a comeback pitch back on July 28. He lowered his season ERA to 3.06 and should line up for face the Dodgers at home in his next outing. A tough moment for Mets fans happened in addition to the loss. Michael Conforto went down after swinging at a pitch in the 5th inning. The team later reported he suffered a dislocated left shoulder. His return in 2017 is up in the air at this point.
  • The legend of Rhys Hoskins continues to grow with another home run from the Phillies rookie. Hoskins would finish 2 for 5 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Hoskins is now hitting .283 with 8 HR and 19 RBI in just 15 games. It is also his 5th straight game with a home run. Speaking of guys who can hit home runs, Giancarlo Stanton did just that in the Marlins win. Stanton finished 2 for 5 as well and now has 47 HR and 100 RBI on the season. If we were promised a healthy season from Stanton, he is no question a 1st round pick in 2018, possibly as high as top 5 overall.
  • Alex Cobb threw 4.1 scoreless innings is his return from the DL. Cobb allowed just 4 hits while striking out 5. Cobb has been great at home this season. This outing lowers his home ERA to 2.34. His road ERA is 4.94. Alex Colome gave up a hit but otherwise pitched a clean 9th inning for the save. Colome leads the majors with 38 saves this season.
  • A baseball game tried its best to get played in the midst of an all out brawl between the Yankees and Tigers. Fists were thrown with Miguel Cabrera and Gary Sanchez being among the key players. Suspensions could come down so be on the look out for that. As for the baseball game, Sanchez and Justin Upton each hit solo homers. They both have 27 HR on the season. Shane Greene recorded the final 5 outs for the Tigers in route to the save. He also had 2 Ks. Greene has 4 saves with a 2.78 ERA.
  • Hyun-Jin Ryu went 6 innings of 1 run ball in a win over the Pirates. The Dodgers starter had 2 strikeouts in the outing. Ryu has a 3.34 ERA 1.29 WHIP and 100 Ks in 107.2 IP this season. Chris Taylor was 3 for 5 with 1 RBI and a steal. Taylor is hitting .313 with 17 HR and 15 SB this year.
