What: Pure Michigan 400
When: August 13th
Where: Michigan International Speedway
2016 Winner: Kyle Larson
Track: Michigan International Speedway. Created in 1968, this 2 mile asphalt D-shaped Speedway has 18 degree banked turns and 12 degree banked front stretch and 5 degree back stretch. It serves as a sister track to Texas World Speedway and hosts two NASCAR races (Firekeepers Casino 400 and Pure Michigan 400). It is not a restrictor plate race and is among the faster tracks on the circuit (cough cough Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott).
Brad Keslowski. Prior to his 16th place finish at Michigan earlier this year, he had 4 consecutive top 10 finishes and two top 5 finishes here.
Chase Elliott. Let me sum up Chase Elliott's race at Michigan International Speedway in one word: Second. Second place here in both races last year, second place in his first race this year. Can he win it or will he fall victim too...
Kyle Larson. Kyle won here this year, he also won here once last year to go along with his 3rd place finish. There is a strong argument to be made that your B-drivers will be 1 & 2 at this race.
Michael McDowell. Theoretically Erik Jones would be best but I'm just about tapped on starts for Daniel Suarez, Ty Dillon and Erik so I'm going with Michael who finished 23rd here earlier this year and is fresh off 3 consecutive top 20 finishes. The racer out of Leavine Family Racing is doing quite well.
Jamie McMurray. Since I picked two B- Racers who you are likely short on starts with, here is another B- Driver who may do well this weekend. Jamie is hardly a foreign name to anyone keeping track, he's currently 8th in points, to go along with that he has 3 consecutive top 10 finishes here.
