What: Greenbrier Classic
When: July 6th - 9th
Where: Old White TPC
2016 Winner: Danny Lee (-13)
Purse: $7.1MM (Winner - $1.3MM)
Course: Old White TPC. This 7,287 yard part 70 course as designed in 1914by Charles MacDonald. It is a unique course ending with a par 3 and encompasses a great water hole just prior to that which is always fun to watch.
A Golfer. Kevin Streelman. I pick him with trepidation due to the fact that good putting is essential and he is 141st in Strokes Gained Putting this year. He has been so great lately though (4 consecutive top 20 finishes) that I can't pass it up.
B Golfers:
Kevin Kisner. So/so track record here (going beyond last year where he was in the playoff) but with a current 10th best Strokes gained tee to green this year we might see another Sunday run. Let's just hope there is no flooding this year.
Hudson Swafford. Not his best season but he has yet to miss a cut at Greenbrier and if he could get his Sunday rounds in check he could contend for a top 20 spot down the stretch.
C Golfer.
David Lingmerth. Fresh off the 5th place finish at Quicken Loans (not to mention top 30 finishes in the 4 tournaments prior to Quicken Loans National), he comes to Greenbrier where he finished 6th in 2015 missed the cut in 2014 and finished 9th in 2013.
Dark Horse:
Braden Thornberry. He has an NCAA title under his belt and a 4th place finish at the FedEx St. Jude Classic. I'm rolling the dice on another top 25 place finish from the Ole Miss Alum.
